Crappy photo quality

Is there some secret to getting semi-acceptable photo quality? Every pic i take is so terrible that I've come to not even bother with it, which is a real bummer as this phone (xv6700) is a great device otherwise. I've played with the settings but I wasn't sure if maybe theres something I'm missing. It's not an issue with that little macro slider (which seems to do nothing btw).

Thanks in advance guys!

the macro slider does do its job but you cant expect much from this camera phone.

best thing to do is, make sure you have the latest htc camera app or coolcamera
use alcohol and a swab to clean the lens
flip the macro switch up and down and back to the distance icon
make sure you got 1.3mp set, jpg capture format, and jpg quality set to superfine
make sure you rest the camera on something while you press the shutter button
zoom out as far as possible because zoom is useless and ruins pic quality
coolcamera i heard has a faster shutter speed or something resulting in better still images.

the pictures ive taken have always come out great for what it is..

Try CoolCamera with the 6700 series, far superior to the stock app.
