Can you take updates from Zune ? Because that's all it is...

I gotta say...I'm really liking it so far. Once all of the features get finished, I think I might just have to make the switch from Android.

-Twitter doesn't work yet.
-Facebook Chat brings me to a page that says "invalid address".

-Bing Maps looks like its the full TTS version, but I'll have to test on my way home
-IE9 seems nice and has tabs
-Facebook notifications show up in the Me hub
-You can create groups in your People hub and pin it to the start screen (great way to make your most contacted people easier to find)
-Program list now has letter separation which adds to the list, but lets you click on a letter to skip to that section
-Some more settings compared to the old one
-Camera can now save settings and you can turn off the shutter sound
-Battery Saver Mode can disable online services when your battery gets low
-In Battery Saver settings you can see your battery life %, estimated time remaining and time since last charge (right now I'm at 75% and it says I can go another day and 6 hours...which is hard to believe lol)
-You can to voice-to-text now to compose SMS
-Office looks like it synced my docs from SkyDrive :)

That's all I've noticed so far...

Just wondering if this voice to text function requires a data connection or does the phone have everything to recognize what you're saying to transcribe the text or e-mail?

If it doesn't need to send the speech to the cloud to get it done that would be awesome. I sure wish they'd integrate this with the calendar. Probably a little clunky but would be so sweet.

I did get Facebook chat working after I made my post.

For voice to text, I'm guessing it requires the internet since I think its based on Tell Me from WM. Google's version is the same way.

How to install mango on your WP7 device with a roll back plan(backup)

Download the 0.02 version (lower on the site), it will automaticly create a backup of your phone (the zune backup process, full rom level of your phone, Read the text file it comes with). You only need the Windows Support Tools installed, not the whole dev package (get at the below link)

Get the Mango update now. Without being a developer. - Windows Phone Hacker

It's so easy, a caveman could do it. Download 0.02+ (what ever the newest version is), Connect your phone to PC and close Zune, click on the Update.bat, follow instructions, it will take a backup of your phone (could take a 1/2 hour or so), then will provision your phone to take the update. After this, check your phone, it will say an update is available, it will install a 7401 update (1 through 9 steps) after it's done, you'll get another message "update is available", then it will install mango.

The whole process takes about an hour to an hour and 1/2. Your current settings, programs, apps, etc are not touched.

Only think to note, save your backup (files are not stored just in the root) or just don't rebuild or nuke your computer, as the files are there.

Enjoy

The TellMe app works without a data connection for voice dialing contacts. If you want to search for something on the internet a data connection is certainly required.
I just figured that since a person could voice dial a contact and it could repeat back what you said that some language recognition files were on board for text dictation also.
Thanks for checking. That's a little bit of a bummer for me. Oh well:-D

Wow, mango is a delicious OS (so far) for developers and the media alike that have updated their devices or were given test devices. But the mango sexy doesn’t end with current windows phones 7 because it seems the HTC HD2 super phone has also received Mango from DFT. But there are some warnings and considerations: windows live functions aren’t working and you have to use MS Hotmail Connector to sync with Outlook. A huge bummer is multitouch isn’t working properly, but that’s a hardware limitation. For the users of the T-Mobile US HTC HD2, Mango works, but 512 MB of NAND is used versus the supported 1024. Bold enough to grab Mango for the HD2 to extend its shelf life? Mark Monday on your calendar to get a sweet taste of Mango on a device that may never die.

yea I already downloaded the tools from that site im just waiting to pull the trigger on it tonight for sure after I got all the information I needed. what's great is it doesn't delete any data which makes it a bit different than flashing a ROM
