Sign the WP7S boycott..

Sign the WP7S boycott.. Unless you like Microsofts interpretation of an iPhone.. Lets reiterate all that M$ cut out..

- No flash support.
- No multitasking.
- No copy paste.
- No removable storage media.
- No other default apps.
- No USB mass storage.
- No sideloading apps (Non App Store).
- No customized UI.

M$ is saying F their current user base, its like they are saying you dummies should have got an iPhone.. I cant get any work done on this, 3D games and slick graphics are cool but not if I have to carry a laptop around with me. Sign this petition if you feel the same way.

the goal is only 1000 i dont think MS cares about 1000 people you should make the goal 5000 or 15000 im sure u could get that easily since so many people either feel betrayed & there are alot of people who just dont like MS

Re: Sign the WP7S boycott..

Or just get as many signatures as you can get, the more the better. The more sigs you get, the more MS will pay attention. you could even post this link on other winmo sites, there a bunch of them and not only in English as well.

Re: Sign the WP7S boycott..

I can understand Microsoft on all that except no copy and paste. How can you have Office and no clipboard functions?

Microsoft didn't cut flash btw, Adobe is just slow at developing.

This is just silly. I'll be sure to buy an extra phone to counteract you Tea Party folks...lol.

Celsius0010, I'm wondering what kind of work you won't be able to do with this?

Re: Sign the WP7S boycott..

Microsoft hasn't exactly said there will be no copy/paste. My guess is that there will be copy/paste within the various hubs, office, net, contacts, etc. You just won't be able to paste what you copied outside of that. Will make it tough for those of us who copy from email to new messages, docs, etc.

And revolt all you want, it's pretty foolish to start flaming on WP7S over 6 months before it will be released.

Actually they said exactly that and were quoted saying they left it out on purpose.

And most of which have nothing to do with caring about what phone is made with what. It was mostly figuring out how to FIX stuff on my phone that winmo didnt do from the start so a pretty piss poor comparison to people being so frustrated about what a company adds to a phone they decide to boycott it... I mean its not like you HAVE to buy it!!!!! Buy another phone good grief.. like MS is gonna say oh yea... they dont like it so I guess we'd better scrap the 4 years worth of work we put into it to please them. C'mon son:angry7:

You have like 7 or 8 times as many posts as me so you might want to ask yourself the same question..

As far as my personal life goes its great. Taking 10 mins to push the one company that focused on working from your phone to not leave behind its user base is no biggie for me.

It is a shame Microsoft slapped us in the face. I'm not sure how well they will be able to pull this product off...

They are basically trying to sell the iPhone with only two unique factors:

1. Hardware KB option (though neutered)
2. Multiple OEMs (though so restricted might as well be 1).

They don't have the marketing machine that Apple has so I don't think they can get by seeing the iPhone-not to the iPhone crowd.

Not sure what planet you live on, but on this one (called Earth) it works this way. Customers complain to companies and those companies respond to user complaints with improved products.

If no one ever said they were unhappy with a product they were offered there would never be any improvements to products!

We also always choose to boycott products in our daily lives. If it doesn't work, doesn't meet our needs, or for a myriad of other reasons. I'm sure you have stores you don't shop at or eateries you won't buy from. The reasons could be as "silly" as "bad service" or a serious as you being alergic to nuts and they cook all their food in peanut oil.

Boycotting products is a normal fact of life. Well unless we are Bill Gates and can buy everything that comes by our face without regard for money.

In 2009 roughly 174 million smartphones were sold, 14% of which run Windows Mobile. That's a little more than 24 million Windows devices sold last year..I'm guessing this petition will need a little more than a 1000 sigs..just my .02

Don't want the offering, don't buy it. That is the biggest voice you can have.

I think it will massively fail all by itself. Pushing Silverlight as a core functionality feature is going to keep developers away. Who wants to develop for a failing/failed Flash competitor that is quickly becoming irrelevant in the face of HTML5, SVG, and CSS3?

haaa ha ha everyone will be unlocking, cooking and flashing to go to an OLDER OS instead of a newer one! Everyone will focus on modifying the latest ver of 6.5 and it will be perfected!

You can keep your two cents...

MS knows how powerful XDA, PPCgeeks, and the rest of the Dev and Blog community has become.. Why do you think we get all of these WM6.5.x builds that arent available for purchase (they just dont appear out of thin air).. M$ knows that every user here influences a dozen maybe several dozen other potential customers.. So you can really multiply the number on the petition by a factor of 10 to 20..

Besides that the petition is a day old and will break 1000 by tommorrow at the latest.. And you swear like another cant be made or this one cant have more than 1000 sigs.. Grow up man..

1000 sigs is not going to do much, and what do you expect them to do, change the operating system for ANOTHER delay? Oh sure, 1000 people signed a petition so now we're going to start WM7 from scratch again for another 2 years.

probably not gonna happen.

The petition by itself isn't going to raise any flags by itself--granted. However say cnet writes up and article about it, MaximumPC, PCWorld, MSNBC etc now it's out there for even more eyes to see. Phonenews just wrote an editorial on why they can't endorse WP7. The more negative attraction that is made of this the more chances are that Microsoft might cave in a little and give in on some of it's rigid policies.

But maybe your right, no one should do anything, lets just keep overpaying for phones that have LESS features then the ones we are using now. If more people thought like you in life we'd all be speaking with a British accent right now...

Re: Sign the WP7S boycott..

I think i'm one of the few enthusiasts who is still excited about this. I will concede that WP7S is not turning out to be the savior of the Smartphone that we were hoping for but on the same time we are all masochists trying to make a sub sub par operating system work for us. Who is to say that we can't do the same thing for 7. Even if it did have everything we wanted we would still be here unlocking our phones searching every nook and cranny of the code for things we can exploit.

The emulator has shown signs of a file system and we know that once these phones are unlocked you will be able to side load programs. There are very few problems that we wont be able to solve within a few weeks of it's release.

The loss of cut and paste is lamentable but I don't consider it a deal breaker I don't use it that much. The big gripe that I have with this is loss of removable storage. But if they make these high enough capacity I wont mind.

Just my 10 cents.

wow i guess im the odd man out i really like what M$ is doing here. i think that the ui is simple yet beautiful. and they did what the had to do to make the os as fast and reliable as possible the same way we did back in the mogul days we striped roms down to only the necessity just for better performance. and i think that M$ has made some tuff but great calls in WP7 and i cant wait to see how the finished product comes out.

no your not the odd man out im getting a wp7 as soon as they hit, but you wont really hear from the people who want it cuz its no point of starting a thread saying how you want this phone, but there is plenty to complain about & alot of people like complaining so thats why you see so much of it

OMG what on earth are MS thinking, the only reason i stick with winmo is becasue i can customise and muck around so much. SO none of our old apps or games will work eh - stupid, i still use appps from winmo 2003 and dont see why i have to buy all new stuff. I just signed it but MS are unlikely to give a f**K

I guess that's another reason to not like it. Maybe that's implied by "no USB mass storage" but the bottom line is with my TP2 I can take any mini USB cable and hook up to any computer and move music and other files ont the phone with no software at all.

I guess we can forget about tethering.....

when was the last time you witnessed a microsoft phone that had less features than everyone else?

they have always had more till this day. by the time wp7 comes out it will have more than anyone else.

it's the MS way, they always trump everyone else
