Re: Which OS Interests You Most?
I'm all about any OS whether it's Windows Mobile 6.5/7,Blackberry 5.0,Android,Web device with an processor above the average 528MHz. I'm looking forward to the future devices with 1024MHz processors.
Right now the Blackberry Tour w/o wifi and RIM's OS 5.0 keeps my cup half full... |
Re: Which OS Interests You Most?
Just switched form wm 6.5 to webos on the pre and it safe to say im never going back. these two years of windows just wore me out. since im using in for my entertainment and not business i just wasnt feeling winmo. especially with its old looking gui. they could have made something more appealing like windows 7 is on the desktop.

Re: Which OS Interests You Most?
Windows Mobile 6.5.1 is shaping up real nicely IMO love the contacts touchup, buttons, checkboxes, etc have been redone as well. IMO its what 6.5 should have been to avoid horrible reviews a bit. but it still has a lot of touching up to do before id consider getting one again (calendar for example, and the homescreen tray buttons has got to go cuz it clashes with titanium...)
Still id go with Android for the #1 spot and be looking at future updates to WebOS since it looks the most promising of them all but still lacking ATM |
Re: Which OS Interests You Most?
Android hands down for me.
For one, I don't feel like paying an extra $30 for BIS (or $10 if you know where to look), so Blackberry's out. Iphone is sweet, but I'm not going to AT&T's crappy network, so that's out. WebOS is VERY cool, but I'm not even sure Palm will be around in a year or 2 (especially if they keep coming "Pixie" style...ewww) Maybe if the get a slideout qwerty, and their financials turn around significantly. Windows 6.5........your kidding right? If it's not laggy on the HD2, then maybe. maybe. I HATE lag. It's retarded. That leaves ANDROID FTW!!! |
Re: Which OS Interests You Most?
I'm tired of Windows problems. My TP has to be rebooted at least once every two days. Constant lock ups. It was the same thing with my Vogue. I played with the Hero at Best Buy the other night and have been reading every review I could find. I did the same thing with the Vogue and the TP. I knew there were issues and still went with them. For the most part I loved the phones. But I got worn down by the constant hassles. When I'm eligible to switch phones in early December I'm jumping to Android and the Hero.

Re: Which OS Interests You Most?
i like my windows mobile device. i have a vogue, yes old school, but it works. flashed to have winmo 6.5 and am loving it. better than the iphone in my opnion. everything is compared to the iphone, yet everyone has a partiality towards the iphone its sickening.
android is a new os, i love it on my vogue. even better on the g1. bb os, don't like it, no touchscreen so no go for me. |
Re: Which OS Interests You Most?
TP is 6.1 stock with flashed radio. Business use, very heavy talk time. Office is a must so WM is a must. Very, very few problems with this phone. Ill wait for 7 to come out for awhile and then get the best phone I can. Larger screen will be appreciated with these older eyes (just tuned 60). Zero interest in multimedia. It is really business use.

Re: So has the temptation got to you yet?
Typing this from my sprint diamond, I voted for android even though I've hardly used it because it does interest me the most. What I mean by that is I think it has the most potential right now. I had a Treo 700p before my diamond so this is my first windows mobile phone. Stock it sux but I'm running energy rom on it and it's like night and day. I'm debating going over to android when my contract is up but still not sure about it. With windows mobile I have core player so I don't have to worry if my phone will play this or that video or not. Core player also plays pls files from shoutcast so streaming internet radio is no prob. Might not be the prettiest app but gets the job done. My phone might not be the prettiest or smoothest but in the end it does MORE than all the non WM phones out there. Great as a modem for my laptop and easy to setup even on stock rom just one cab file. Come out with vlc for android and you'd make my choic a lot easier. I have a lot of movies on my puter and they're mostly .avi files, can ANY of the other phones play those? I really don't like the email on WM but it gets the job done. This is the tiniest most powerful phone I've ever had.

Re: Which OS Interests You Most?
Definitely the Android. Even at its infancy... it is showing a lot of potential.
|
Re: Which OS Interests You Most?
I am most interested in Android. I like that it is always developing and updates and patches OTA (hello MS). I am loving all of the WM 6.5.x builds I'm seeing, but they only seem to be tweaks and fixes on previous builds, not really new.

Re: Which OS Interests You Most?
I'm most interested in the Windows Mobile/Phone platform – maybe because I've used it for nearly a decade. But, I've had a chance to work/play with all the other OSes and, time after time, I stick with WinMo. One could argue that it's out of comfort, but I feel it's more that WinMo has the flexibility to be the exact device I want/need; depending on h/w.
I truly feel that the most recent innovator in that group would have to be the iPhoneOS (not necessarily 3.1). I give props to the others for changing course quickly, and some for coming out of nowhere. WebOS (mostly the latest) gets the most under-rated – I think palm has the potential to steal any of RIM’s thunder for good, and hopefully they’ll have learned from any number of RIM’s mistakes (i.e. data blackouts, etc.). I would have to give the most deflating/overhyped to Android--I really thought you and I could have something special, but it was not to be. And most lackluster goes to RIM's Blackberry--to me it is the epitome of minimalist pocketpc/pda/phone. It’s okay for (some) business but only so-so for everyday life. But, that's just me. |
Re: Which OS Interests You Most?
Windows Mobile 6.5 has the ability to do Over the Air patching and firmware upgrades. Windows Mobile 6.1 supported over the air patching but I don't think the functionality was ever used.
I'm most interested in Windows mobile 7. They have now seen that the smart phone isn't just something suite and tie businessmen carry, that it's something for all groups and ages. What concerns me the most about Android and Iphone are the push towards keyboardless phones. The only people I've met who like touch screen only phones are apple fanboys. |
Re: Which OS Interests You Most?
Welp, I'm no Apple fanboy. Quite the opposite, as I have a passionate hatred against the closed minded way iPhone, iPot, iTunes, etc. 'encourage' use of Apple's hardware, not to mention how they milk customers with updates. Whew, glad I got that off my chest! Now, this is supposed to mean I want to lug a physical keyboard? No way! Virtual keyboard is way better for me. Oh yeah, this thread is re OS's. I'm for any OS that allows lots of choice, supports all kinds of apps from business to play and everything inbetween. This rules out iPhone, as it allows, for example, only 1 music player. (Puke!) BB's totally out for too many reasons to begin listing. WebOS is too limited and is bearly growing. Android is slick, but apps are mostly toys so far. Maybe 'droid will eventually be robust though, given the fast rate of its growth. But, at least for now and the foreseeable future, WinMo is the only OS that gives me what I want and need. Anything else would be taking a step down for me.

Re: Which OS Interests You Most?
I own an ATT Fuze, Treo Pro, BB 8330, Palm Pre and Palm Pixi. I've always been a Windows Mobile user and really like the ability to customize, etc. My problem is WM gets "stale" to me. It doesn't offer alot of "wow" factor and alot of the apps are cartoonish. I've been using webos mostly for the past few months and I haven't noticed a drop off in productivity as far as work goes. I do miss the combination of D-pad and touch functions I have on the fuze and treo pro. I'm trying to convince myself to try Android but haven't spoken with any users to get their input. I suppose I'll always have a WM phone but overall have really enjoyed webos. What kind of life would I have without constant WM destruction/construction? My wife asked me the other day, "Why do you tear your phone up everynight just to fix it again?". Oh, I almost forgot, other than email, the BB OS is of no interest to me. Way to old and dated in my humble opinion.

Re: Which OS Interests You Most?
I was always a fan of windows mobile due to my first phone being a blackjack:) but after using an HTC Dream I quickly switched over to the pastry side. Sadly my Dream was stolen 3 months ago and I reverted back to an X1. Although flashing Roms has kept my interest in the X1 up I still feel myself hungering for Android again, or possibly a Symbian device (e71) for one handed use.

Re: Which OS Interests You Most?
I'm really liking windows 6.5, I this it has the potential to be unbeatable but there isn't enought effort being put on it.
as for android, I'm just waiting for it to becoma as "costumizable" as WM and a device with plenty of power to make it smooth as butter and I think I'll end up switching |
Re: Which OS Interests You Most?
At this point
1. Android 2. Iphone 4G 3. WebOS 4. WinMO |
Re: Which OS Interests You Most?
my current lineup...
1. WebOS (basically the best OS out there and most underrated due to hardware issues) 2. WM7 3. Android 4. IPhone 4th Gen ... No interest at all for Bada, 6.5.x, or Blackberry |
Re: Which OS Interests You Most?
I am just happy to see WM winning in this poll :)

Re: Which OS Interests You Most?
Hello!
I am a huge fan of Windows mobile So I am interested in Windows Mobile 6.5. Windows Mobile 6.5 OS is very easy to use and it has the ability to do over the Air patching and firmware upgrades. Windows Mobile 6.5 OS is more familiar with all peoples. So I am interested in Windows Mobile 6.5 OS. |
Re: Which OS Interests You Most?
nothing current is interesting anymore.
waiting to see wait future iterations of Android bring as well as wp7 |

My contract is up not too long after WP7S comes out, so I am torn between android and that. If WP7S ends up being a Microsoft iPhone, I'm off to the land of robots.
