Re: Google Voice Incoming/Outgoing Options!

Called up Sprint and gave them my GV number but they had no idea what I was talking about. "...one of your free numbers"? They kept asking if I meant to add another line.
What/how are you exactly supposed to tell them or do this?

You have to have the "Pick any 3 Numbers" or "Pick any 5 Numbers" feature already on your account or add it to your account.
I think the "Pick Any 3 Numbers" is available as an option that you can still add to your account for $5/month.
I think some people have had it added to their account for free.
I already had the Pick 3 option on my account.
After you have this feature on your account, just ask the Sprint Rep to add the 3 Numbers that you want, cellular or landline. You get unlimited calling to the 3 Numbers you choose, incoming and outgoing.
You don't have to tell them its a Google number, landline number or cellular number.
Just give them the 10 digit numbers, after you have the feature added to your account, if you choose to do so.

Thanks, that helped. Had to go through hoops to get the Pick 3 added but it worked.

Good to hear you got it added.
In the end, it is well worth the effort to have that feature added to your account.
Did you get it for free or $5/month?

you're not on the everything plan? I only ask because with a diamond, and using all its data hungry applications, I would think you would be on the everything plan. If you are, then you unlimited anyway and you don't need 3 free.

I'm still trying to figure out a use for my google number.

What are you having an issue with?
Edit:
Just give people your Google Voice number.
When they call it, calls will be forwarded to your cell number**
You have to go to your Google Voice account and set up the parameters of your GV number, like to which numbers you want your GV calls to go to.
Obviously, you have to call Sprint and give them your 10 digit GV number as one of your Pick 3 numbers.
For outgoing calls, call your GV number and choose the outgoing call option and dial away.
Or use one of the methods MordyT included in his thread.

I'm just saying with the everything plan, I have unlimited minutes and I always have my cell phone with me so I don't really have a need for it. That's me. I still signed up for it and have iDialer on my phone. Why? I have no idea!

Re: Google Voice Incoming/Outgoing Options!

Ok. I didn't know you we've on am Everything Plan.
I am not on an Everything Plan but I don't nearly use all of my minutes but I use my GV number for a variety of reasons >
1) I can give my GV number to people I don't want to have my cellular number.
2) I am use my GV number to call people and have it show up on their Caller id.
3) You can give your GV number to people and program it to dial whichever number you want depending on who the caller is.
4) I can use it as MordyT has recommended.

There are a variety of uses for your GV number. I suggest you go to their site and read up on it.
You may find some uses for it that may suit you.

will do. thanks for the advice!

oh, by the way...my point was that since you have a diamond, if you're not on everything plan, don't you worry about your data usage?

I must be missing somthing

Re: Google Voice Incoming/Outgoing Options!

you can also call out from your voicemail by using option 8 so if you had your voicemail as one of your free 3, outgoing calls would be free (and it shows up as private caller).

Option 8 only calls back the number of the caller that left the message you are listening to, if the number is available.

that's not true. Have you tried it? just dial 1, then 8, then any number you want.

.........a 2nd line, 2000 a/t minutes, 5pm minutes, 1000 texts, etc.
$100 less 15%
The plan has not been available for about 2 years.
I had the other stuff added along the way as they became available or were offered.

ok, thanks. It doesn't sound like I can get either of those, so unless there's a better way, I'll have to stick with everything.

The Everything plan is a fantastic bargain. $99/month for everything unlimited. Can't beat it.
The problem is that if you want to get a second line, there is a big price to pay.
My second line is used by my Mom, who uses maybe 50 minutes a month even though I keep telling her to use as much as she wants.
So for me, switching to the Everything Family plan would cost me around $180/month (I am pretty sure the plan is not discount eligible,) which is ridiculous in my case.

I doubt Ensemble would let it be added to an Everything Plan.
In the past, Ensemble would sometimes let reps add certain features to accounts, only to remove them 2-3 billing periods later.

i was with someone when they did it - though not to a sep
they did completly automated - no rep involved

ok, we'll see what happens. Thanks for the tip.

EDIT: So I just read more closely through that thread and it seems that Biker is correct in that people with everything are being rejected for this discount. I'll cross my fingers anyway and hope that I slip through the cracks.

Re: Google Voice Incoming/Outgoing Options!

The old SERO plan was the best for the money, with all the built in perks. It's tailor made for using with GV since you don't have very many anytime minutes with SERO. I only have 500 anytime so GV is a Godsend.

Did you get it for free or $5/month?

I tried to get them to add it for free but no go since they said I had too many "freebies" already on my calling plan...which is probably true.

I'm using Magicall and it's working great but I cannot figure out how to call my Sprint voicemail directly. It connects me through GV but then never prompts me to check my Sprint voicemail messages. I guess you need to create a rule, which I did, but it's not working as I intended. How are you creating the rule to call voicemail directly?

it looks like the set of rules i released did not have the sprint voicemail built in.
you can make your own rule. or, within 20 mins i should have a new rule set with voicemail in it

I actually put my number in the exceptions rule as I don't access it thru GV.
But I see that MordyT will have it for you momentarily :)

Thanks for the Modification.
Can you tell me the individual voicemail rule as I don't want to download the new set and have all my info erased like last time :(
I appreciate it.
In case I want to use it, I'll always have it.
Was that the only new rule in the set?

preety much the only new rule... also i added in 3 numbers as execptions - so if you have pick 3 you can just add in your number and the rule is good to go.

vm is just a rule that bypasses g v nothing really special.

Hi guys, I read somewhere that you can somehow get Magicall to send texts that come from your GV number? Is that possible? I have it already for calls, but I cant figure out how I would set it up for text. Perhaps I had misunderstood, so if it cant be done please let me know. Thank you much!

I already have my voicemail in the exception rule which bypasses GV.
Is that what you mean?
I thought that one of the posters wanted to dial his voicemail and have it go thru google voice, and be able vo access his messages.
Normally when you do that though, it is as if you are an outside caller calling in to your cellphone number. In which case you would have to access your voicemail via your password.
The poster wanted to dial out through the 8 option.I must be missing something

In regards to the 3 numbers you added as exceptions, and you said you add your pick 3 number and you're good to go. Can you clarify?
Sorry for the confusion.

EDIT:
Is the sms rule included in your new set of rules?
