ActiveSync problems after 30 minutes or so

I had this problem with my Sprint Mogul and now with my Sprint Touch Pro. I think it started when I installed XP SP3, but I'm not 100% sure. The Mogul is running No2chem nuePre3 and the Touch Pro is stock.

When I first plug the USB cable into my phone everything syncs fine, and I can see the phone's files with either the Explore button in ActiveSync or by clicking on Mobile Device with Windows Explorer. After a half hour or so, I can't explore it until I disconnect and reconnect again.

After the same time period, even though the ActiveSync wheel spins as though it's synchronizing, nothing really gets updated. This bit me yesterday, as I changed the reminder time of an appointment, but it didn't get updated on the phone.

I have the USB to PC settings to "ActiveSync (Sync with Outlook)" checked and "Enable advanced network functionality" unchecked. My firewall settings allow all four ActiveSync processes as exceptions. Since it works for a while, I assume it's set up correctly.

Any ideas how to get this fixed?

I wish I could help... That is weird... Maybe just re-download Active Sync from here... I really don't know..

Removing SP3 might fix it, but I'd rather wait to see if anyone else has the same problem, and how or if they fixed it. At least I can connect, and everything works as long as I remember to disconnect and reconnect before trying to do anything over ActiveSync.

just dont use activesync... :D j/k

well at least you can get it work, if you read the thread i linked you to some users were not so lucky. IMHO activesync isnt really needed though, as you can always turn your phone into mass storage for file transfers and backup your PIM data using a plethora of other methods :D

I was having the same problems. Just fixed it. Here's how:

Start > Settings > Connections > USB to PC > Uncheck "Enable advanced network functionality"

So tired I can barely see straight. I was working on this for hours. Hopefully that works for you.

EDIT: This appears to work for me only when I select "Contacts." I can't sync anything else (calendar, tasks, etc.) Don't know what that's about.

Update to my original problem: Now I'm noticing that my ActiveSync disconnects when I have any GPS program running. I'm surprised that no one else is seeing these problems.

Some of the GPS programs use Data... Could be possible reason...
