New Sprint PRL #60711.
Sprint EvDO w/ Data Triangle:

Re: New Sprint PRL

Any one know y it jumped from 60611 to 60711 instead of 60612 or something?

Re: New Sprint PRL

I updated to the newest, and forcing roam still causes the phone to lock up, have to soft reset. When it reboots, it is roaming with 1x and there is NO data triangle...another bogus PRL from Sprint....

I tried. Didn't notice any difference from 60611. Seems okay to me.

I put in this afternoon when I saw in on other site. new prl helped . Went from 22-25 kbs at office to 131-151 kbs. Pages are flashing when visit sites. I read that this prl was for data cards on other site and he updated to his phone with no problems.

PRL change is not the cause of your slow web unless you are in roam. This is a quote off the interweb....
"The PRL is a list of information that resides in the memory of a digital phone. It lists the frequency bands the phone can use in various parts of the country. (The smaller bands within Cellular or PCS.) The part of the list for each area is ordered by the bands the phone should try to use first. For example, say you had a Sprint PCS phone, and were travelling in an area with no Sprint coverage, weak Verizon coverage, and strong Qwest coverage. The PRL would tell the phone to look for towers using Sprint's band for that area. Finding none, it might tell the phone to search for towers in Verizon's band next, perhaps because Sprint's roaming agreement with Qwest was not as favorable, or none existed. The phone would use Verizon's towers, as dictated by the PRL, even though Qwest might provide a better signal."

What do you mean? Again not a PRL issue I would assume.

What?

I have this PRL in my Touch and 6800. I don't notice any difference in my area. Some PRLs only affect you if you live in that affected area where the change happened. ex If you live in Cherry Hill, N.J and the roaming list changed in Barstow, CA You would never see a difference.

On Sprint's website it states that this prl is for their aircard's...one of the newest but i'm not sure which one. It says that it has something to do with gps...I'll try to find it again, also I read somewhere that this prl also has to do with updating the EVDO towers...Not sure why, but it was something i had read.

Here's the link to sprint's website http://www4.sprint.com/pcsbusiness/s...?softwareId=95

I think what that is saying is that the 60711 PRL is also in the SCM_3.10.014.msi firmware update for the Datacards that link is to. Datacards work off the same towers if I'm not mistaken. Sprint is always late on the PRLs they put out but the link above says nothing to me about my phones. A few different PPC forums are talking about this. Lots of people are running it with no ill effects. The last PRL# at www.sprint.com/downloads -- Windows Mobile (ce) Mogul by HTC Software Update was 60608 thats a long time ago 03/30/2007.........................
Software Version: 2.17.651.0
Radio Version: 1.47.01
PRL Version: 60608....
I run...
Software Version: 3.16.651.0
Radio Version: 3.27.00
PRL Version: 60711....

Yea I see your point, but I wonder why sprint would put it to their aircards first rather than both...Maybe their aircards have been locking on to the wrong towers? I wish i had one to test with.

You are absolutely correct sir. I used to work for Sprint back in the day. When it was Sprint PCS. The PRL has NOTHING to do with data speeds. PRL was a scapegoat fix we would abuse in the store if nothing else seemed to work and we wanted to get the cust out of the store before it got ugly. It does in fact update a "list". PRL= Preferred Roaming List. As towers and environments change as well as roaming contracts between providers so does the need to update the phone's roaming parameters. I remember reading an update from one to the very next PRL and what "exactly" it changed. It was a slight change in the northern New York area. We were applying it here in FL and it was creating more bars like magic right in front of the customer’s eyes! (Insert sarcastic tone here)

I called Sprint Customer Service and they automatically put me back to 60611...grrr. I show them! I will put it back to 60711.

I'm having the same problem. I press ##775# and it dials. I'm running PRL 60610. Is there another way to do this? I noticed that someone earlier downloaded a PRL file. What would I do with that.

I tried ##775# , #775. ##775* and nada!!! Sprint advised me they would not push it to me as I am not in the zone that requires it.

Some dialers will not allow the ## numbers to work. Worst case uninstall your dialer if its custom do the update and reinstall your dialer.

Enter your MSL number (PassWord)......(Click THIS for MSL Generator))
Hold on update PRL....
Browse to your SD Card where you have the new PRL....
Select and it will reboot...

Sprint PDAs arent/werent set up for REV A speeds, only the aircards were set up for REV A speeds. They would probably want a 59.99/month 2yr contract with a REV A data card instead of customers just doing a 39.99 phone as a modem add on for the same speed that they can cancel at anytime. Smart business as they would call it

Re: New Sprint PRL

if the ## codes don't work you can always run EPST from the \Windows directory.

Choose Edit
Enter your MSL
Select View Info
Change to PRL
Follow the update instructions listed earlier.

it is case sensitive so make sure you enter your esn just as it is given in your device info...

drunken_monky 03-01-2008 04:37 PM

Re: New Sprint PRL

i know it is case sensitive.

i put it in every diff way i could and place all numbers that i get from msl, the only number that i could be of on is O or 0, its hex so doesnt go all the way to the letter o, but still placed it in like that....

nxtech3 03-01-2008 04:57 PM

Re: New Sprint PRL

if its the hex use zero of course. Just call customer care and they will give you the info. Just tell them you want the MSL code and they will give it to you, then store it in the phone just so you dont lose it

Re: New Sprint PRL

Well I used QPST.
You need to put your phone in ##diag# mode and connect it so QPST can work
then you can read all the information from there and there is a tab that says ROAM i clicked it and save it then opened with RL editor(included in QPST) and rename it to 60612.prl
I can post tomorrow extra details of the process.. because im not in front of that PC..
So if you like just tell me
I messed a little bit with the PRL changed some channels. to see what happens.. not much
I have to ask DCD how to customize it.
