Sprint: PRL 20225 (12/5)
 

Sprint started updating last night. I got updated to 20225 at midnight. Call *2 if it doesn't update wait for tech tell him to flag your account, hang up and call back in 5 minutes and it will start automatically.

yeah I did the *2 ask route - updated fine (whoo first time ever *2 PRL update worked for me, and I've had three different sprint phones over 4 years time...)

Anyway, *2 works,

It will as long as your line is flagged for the update. If not fallow the steps in bootheresa's post. :)

I tried calling Sprint and of course I got two reps who didn't know squat. My call ended up getting escalated into a network issue, with someone calling me back in the next day or so. :roll: So I just emailed Sprint ,and now I am waiting for a email back. :(

for some reason my account had be "flagged" for weeks (was already at 20224)

so when I called today it automatically went through the process but actually had a PRL to update this time :lol:

someone get the prl file from the windows directory and upload please! I need evdo roaming so I can get on alltels evdo! Thanks fr any help. BTW if ur roaming on evdo will u see the ev icon?

afaik, no one has the physical file yet...though I'm sure it'll come out soon enough.

Call *2 and got my prl updated in about 5 min.

called got the account flagged, called back, updated it supposedly, soft reset, same ole same ole prl no update. urrrr I always have issues with *2 prl updates.

3rd time worked like a charm, something I didn't know (since this was my first working *2 update) was that the phone says in the phone pad that its being programmed in yellow letters, and it beeps when its done, and auto soft resets.

Glad you got it to work Mike. I think I only had two successful OTA PRL updates when owning my two 6700s.

Still waiting for them to flag my line. I hope I can finally connect to EVDO in my area. :)

OMG you do roam on evdo! woot woot the very first time I have ever seen a Ev on my phone! I was soooo siked! Then I tired to connect to the net and I got error code 66 a network error. :( hopefully I can get this to work! I want to so so bad! hehe. :evil:

Edit: Getting a error code 101 everynow and again also....still not working :(

Update: I forced it to connect with the IOTA setting in the phone settings menu, but when I load a webpage, I get a data provisioning error with the error code of 1012 :(

I think that's new - it could be the new ROM. - sheureka

It's working for me with Alltel - I just ran a speed check on DSL Reports, and I'm getting 319 kbit/sec and my ISP shows as spcsdns.net. I wasn't sure how that would show up. - sheureka

Edit: I just did another speed test and now I'm at 339 kbit/sec on Alltel and only 220 kbit/sec when I'm back on Sprint! Maybe I'll just leave it on roaming all the time now! - sheureka

I think I'm roaming on alltel also, but I know I will be tonight at work. I really hope I can get this working, I may be on the edge of service? I will report back tonight at work, but I haven't given up yet.

OT but my 6700 did that way back last October (2005) for PRL update (though that was the last time it did OTA).

What is Roaming on EVDO mean??

I am guessing for weeks I have been teethering, and I have been getting data provisioning errors 1012, that those were PRL update attempts?

the jest of it is, if u live were sprint only has 1x service, u can roam and use alltels and some others evdo service. and no the data provisioning errors aren't because of prl update attempts.

ahh thats great, I have the fair and flexible 1400mins plan and I believe they told me roaming was included, I will call to make sure.

I guess now I can take my phone off SPRINT ONLY now it I have roaming included. Thanks

I finally got my email from Sprint saying to call *2 to update my PRL, and of course it isn't initiating the update. It's going straight to my amount due. :(

nall it should go to the update after it gives u ur total or mine did :D and Im at work now with 5 bars on Alltel service and still no connecting to there EVDO :( urrr I think I may call Sprint (like that will help :laughing6: )

Well I called Sprint, got a real nice guy in tech support, says that EVDO roaming isnt possible and I explained of the accounts reported here and he looked into it. He came to the conclusion that maybe it has to do something with Alltels EVDO service in my area. Which Im not sure of, but Im gonna get another user to try it since he leaves in the same town as me. Maybe its just my phone. I noticed that when I called *2 again it updated my prl again. So I tried it, it connects just fine, arrows light up when I try to access a page, and grey when it stops trying to locate. But it doesnt go to the page, it merely complains that the page cannot be found. Im gonna play with the settings and see if I cant get something to work. Somethings gotta give. :(

@sheureka ur phone says Ev on it right? And your roaming on Alltel and it goes to pages no problem eh? Maybe it is the Alltel towers in my area, but I wouldnt think so as EVDO has been available through Alltel for awhile. You running the newest ROM? Anything special? Did you change ur DNS servers? Just wondering, I think Im gonna hard reset and see if that fixes it.

Update: Well a hard reset didnt do anything special. I still get the page not found error, even tho it trys to retieve the page urrr looks like its not meant for me to have EVDO which really ticks me off.

yet another update, I can't even do data roaming on 1x anymore! I think I'm gonna roll my prl back.....at least that way I have data services while roaming. oh and I'm starting a poll in the general discussion area, those that updated their prl and can or cannot do data roaming please vote, I wanna know if its just me, my area, or what.

I posted in the poll. But I have no use for the updates as I am not on CDMA.... :shock: :shock:

another update a fellow ppcgeek from where I'm from updated his and can access pages while on evdo with no errors. So its my phone I take it. I will be reflashing the rom and reupdating the prl to see if this fixs my issues.

Hrmmm so thats what happened to me like a couple weeks back ..

I would call *2 and they would update .


But then they did it like 5-6 times ..


The phone beeped and it said programming or something ..

But I didnt see any difference with anything ..


So should I go ahead and get this PRL update?

Time to update

I fired off an email to Sprints e-care last night asking them to flag my account for a PRL update to all five of my lines. Got into work this morning and had a reply from Sprint saying that all I had to do was call *2. Called and after I got my "account due" info it I was instructed to stay on the line for my update. All went smoothly.

i was hoping to find the same thing on another site, but i didn't have any luck.

I called customer service to get my account flagged and the girl told me that it wouldnt really do anything because i dont roam all the time .

I said uhh ok and ended the call


I emailed ecare 2 hours ago and we'll see what happens ...

got the update. I get error 67: Vision name/password incorrect when I attempt to start internet in Roaming only. Connects just fine on Sprint mode. What gives?

same here, worked fine on 1x with prl 20224 tho.....I dunno what the deal is.

I haven't had any problems going to pages with either IE or ThunderHawk - and everything is uploading and downloading exactly like it did on Sprint - except a little faster! I'm running the newest ROM but haven't made any other changes, i.e., DNS, etc. - sheureka

well I roam fine, but no data roaming with whomever I am roaming (get the 67 error) on when I force it to roam (1x/more bars roaming @ home then with sprint 1 bar EV) - but then I am in CA/Bay area and who knows who I am roaming on...

I don't think Alltel or USCellular has service in the Bay Area - so you're not going to be able to data roam.
