Ok to clarify...winmo is DEAD...it got merged back into the windows embedded tree...so it does not exist on its own anymore...WP7 is a NEW OS..the only similarity is the underlying kernal...

windows mobile is as close to WP7 as iOS is as close to Android...

I just hope those ugly ass blue wp7 "tiles" can be skinned. The UI is as ugly as granny's heinie.

I'm not talking semantics. Splitting hairs ( winmo is dead, long live WP7) WP7...winmo...whatever the moniker, I guess the question should be phrased:

Is the new iteration of Microsoft's smart phone OS any reason to stick with MS OS phones? Crappy interfaces, limited SW. Name your complaint.

Is android any better? Or, just a different set of problems?

Just a different set of problems. For me the TP2 was very reliable, very stable. The Evo has been stable; however, I just up'd to 2.2 and have come across a couple of bugs. The one that hits the hardest though is the alarm - twice now the alarm has sounded and goodness, no way to dismiss it. That means you gotta turn it off and back on. Subsequent tests it works! Thing is, twice now I have had to turn the device off in order to dismiss the alarm and that is a BIG problem for a device that is really fast. Heck, put the microprocessor and memory in a TP2 and you gotta a heck of a device. The Evo is fast though and other than that, stands out no more than any other device. It is fast.

Re: Is winmo dying?

I won't say it's dead... cause I can still run froyo 2.2 on my current winmo 6.5.3 setup... and frankly the reverse is still not true and most likely never will be. So once we have a FULLY functioning Andro build... I'll truly have the best of both worlds, but for right now Android is still my primary OS at this time even without SOUND, BT or CAMERA functionality.... it's just that good and I have no problem saying so.

Been a winmo/CE guy since it's debut.

I mean, I've been winmo since wince. But android? It looks to me like winmo without the downside.

Am I wrong? Should I wait for 7?

I'm confused. I'm holding scissors...

Windows Mobile 6.5 is pretty much done for since no one cares about it anymore. Every notice every new Apple that comes out is for iOS, Android, or even RIM. People and companies arent even bothering to make Windows Mobile Apps anymore. The Windows Marketplace is an absolute joke.

android seems just as limitde as iphone...
just an opinion

Just out of wonder, is your opinion based on anything?

Having had just about every WM Phone on Sprint, and a few Pocket PC's, I'm pretty familiar with what WM offers. I've used the crap out of WM, and I haven't yet found anything that my TP2 does that my Evo can't.

I'm always curious what these types of opinions are founded on.
