WOW the iphone is fast!
 

i was playing with an iphone at an apple store the other day and man is that one fast phone. the touch response is instantaneous compared to winmo. why can't our ppc's be that way too? my next phone, i hate to say may be an iphone!

has anybody even tried to extract the iphone rom off the device and post to a winmo phone at all?

My friend im surprise no one slammed you yet but somebody probably will. so get ready for ... well why dont you just get an iphone, iphone aint all what its cracked up to be, its only visual and a million other comparisons of winmo to iphone so get ready. i say just go with what makes YOU happy. good luck.

Why would you even post this? We hate iPhones & don't wanna hear about them. They're nothing but pretty icons & hype. It's fast because its locked down & uncustomizable. You can make a WM phone just as fast as an iPhone & twice as pretty, its not hard. My TP has pretty much instantaneous response too. I'll take WM over an iTurd any day.

Even if that was possible, it wouldn't be the same because half of what makes an iphone so responsive is the capacitive screen which WinMo phones do not support yet.

I have thre TP's & I love them, but I love my ipod touch just as much & if I could get an iphone to work on Verizon service I would buy one tomorrow.

I tether my touch daily to my TP with WMWifirouter as I MUCH prefer to use the ipod with its awesome screen & safari browser for everyday inet surfing (the ipod email client is 50 times better than WinMo also).

To each his own, but I tried safari & hated it. When it wasnt crashing upon opening, it was slow & you have to zoom & scroll like crazy. Ugh.

Not true (The part about the responsiveness being due to the capacitative screen) I was the owner of a Palm M100, Palm 3c, and Palm Treo. (Girlfriend has Centro), and let me tell you, fast as lightening. Like the iPhone. This leads me to believe that HTC just uses crap touch panels. Seriously.

Sorry, not possible. No one here will straight come out and say it, but "Lag" is part of the WinMo Professional experience. Now, WinMo Standard on the other hand (Non Touchscreen, Smartphone) flys like the wind, like a phone should.

WinMo Pro, with the help of the chefs here, can get close at times, but not consistently. If you stay with WinMo Pro, you're staying for the features that it can do. Eventually, iPhone will duplicate enough of everything that WinMo Pro can do. It is enevitable. But for now, if you stay with WinMo, it is for features over speed.

I will note though, that you might want to look toward the Treo Pro if you want consistent speediness that approaches the iphone (not meet...but approaches ) without some wierd bugs as a result. Play with one in the Sprint store. Pretty good.

I had put a rom already on my phone before but took it off due to warranty......pretty much the only way to make my touch pro is install a rom

I run Indagrooves 23009 rom, so I can switch from either Titanium, or Touch Flo plus I have Spb Mobile shell 3. And my phone is fairly quick and snappy at 32 pagepool. So if someone wants an iphone each their own. Can they do that with a iphone?

Didn't mean to jump on you or anything but it sounded like another "iPhone is awesome, WM sucks!" thread, which I am really sick of seeing.

I'm on MightyRom 4.16 w/the Alltel leaked radio, and I tweaked the speed with Advanced Config. FS cache- 8mb, FS filter cache- 131072 sectors, glyph cache- 128kb. Fast as crap.

I will admit the iPhone has the 'cool' factor but you would miss the absolute freedom of WM. The iPhone does what it does & that's it. Rather unstimulating if you ask me.

Apaerently none of you have seen an unlocked iphone. It is customizeable and can do just about everything a winmo phone can do. Honestly im tired of seeing all of this iphone sucks stuff.

Show me an interface change, WAD equvalent or SPB MS3 equivalent and you've sold me but otherwise no. Windows Mobile hacks are more in depth. Somethings ok, everything? No.

Why would you change the interface? It has a beautiful simple interface. I havnt looked at hacking it much, since it already does everything i wanted my winmo phone to do.

I'll take multi-tasking over the non-multi-tasking devise any day... obviously because I have a Touch Pro :)

Don't worry about the comments. I've used WinMo for a lot of years. Sprint dumped on us a few weeks ago and I had it and we switched to AT&T and I bought a couple of iPhones. The iphone is sleek, small, fast and packs a nice punch in a snazzy package and UI. Within a week I had mine jailbroken and unlocked and then switched to Tmo. Can the iphone multitask, yes it can with backgrounder. Does it do it well, maybe not so much.

When VZW takes over Alltel in our area in September I plan to move there and get either an Omnia II or the tp2. My wife will stay with Tmo because she loves her iphone that much.

When I bought the iphones I signed up at iphoneblog.com and guess what? The WinMo hating comments there are as bad as the iphone hating comments here. If Apple took large piles of dog crap and put an Apple logo on it they would buy them like crazy and then fondle them until they came to orgasm!!

I'm moving back to WinMo because I'm familiar with it and I know how to make it do what I need it to do. Is it the end all of mobile OS's? Hell no! Maybe WinMo 7 will take a giant step in that direction but maybe we'll wait until WinMo 1328. Time will tell.

Right now I'm enjoying using the iphone and in a couple of months will sell it and be back to WM and, hopefully, a carrier that works for me out here in the boonies.

and FTR, i love my 1st gen ipod touch. i won't buy an iphone unless it gets put on a CDMA network. i still love my new diamond though. just as responsive.

All the iphone is is loaded w/ aminations (woo! memory problems!), and lack of task manager (unless you have it jailbroken).

The ipod starts out with 50-55MB of RAM left over to run apps. What happens when you run more than two (like when I'm playing Sims 3) CRASH!

Eh. Its nifty. I like the screen and mainly use the ipod for my mustang for music, and on-the-go for the big touch screen and wi-fi.

I wanted a 2nd gen but not now, my diamond has 6 different kinds of radio in it! (1x, evdo, wifi, bluetooth, gps, and fm radio)

nope. that's when you re-spring it. Or the app crashes. 50-55 when first booting up or re-springing. Not bad, but i have to close safari and my music (sometimes) just to get Sims 3 to work!

Oh they do. When your music app runs, so does your video app. It CAN multitask and run 3 native apps at once, but downloaded apps when in use with natives can run it down sometimes.

I second that question. I'm sure it was just an innocent post but come on- this is PPCGEEKS! I log on here to discuss windows mobile devices & their awesomeness, not to hear about the iPhone. I frequent a Dodge Neon forum as well & you should see the uproar when someone pops in there talking about how great Hondas are & how they wish they could make their Neon as fast as a Civic. Boy, if flaming could kill, we'd have had dozens of corpses by now...

In my humble opinion the iPhone is just an expensive toy for attention seekers. It's slick & flashy but very limited. I truly do not understand what the big deal is. But then again I hate Apple more than the devil, so maybe I'm biased.

All the hatred for the iphone is just that...people hating apple for selling their amazing producs at such high prices. If we could have the iphone hardware/software completely customizable people still wouldnt buy them. I didnt buy this because it looks cool. I personaly believe that there are pbones out there that look nicer than the iphone. I bought it because it has amazing software and a huge number of free apps and if i unlock it, i will have even more.

Not sure what the issue is my TP with stock rom moves very quickly, somtimes there a little lag but it is such a versatile device that is constantly evolving with every new program and rom that is released. When iphone can handle mms or tethering or even adhoc routing, i may consider getting one to wedge my front door open on a windy day!!!

Wow. One sentance with no information to back it up. I would have no problem saying that winmo was better than the iphone, or vice versa, if you gave me the information to back it up. No, im not saying that the iphone is the best phibe out there. Im saying that it is as good as the ones that i have seen and there is no reason for you to hate it as much as you do.
