I read it for the most part...

If he has ever connected the phone to iTunes the data should've automatically been backed up. After the recovery/restore you should have an option to restore your data if a profile was created in iTunes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there was always that option for me

Re: Bricked or what?

Ok, so I finally read the whole thread....whew it IS turning into a saga!

Try this....

Since you have used blackra1n to jailbreak your device it means it's a tethered jailbreak.

1) Connect your turned off iPhone/iPod Touch to the computer using the usb cable. When you do this ‘Connect to iTunes’ will show up on the screen.

2) Run Blackra1n. If iTunes opens up, just minimize it without fiddling around. Just wait for your iPhone/iPod Touch to get fully charged and then close iTunes.

3) Congrats you are now out of ‘Stuck on connect to itunes’ misery.

This is the EXACT mistake I made when I used blackra1n however, I...upgraded the baseband and the version so I was screwed for awhile.

After this is done backup your phone and restore...this time use spirit as it's an untethered jailbreak method

Since you have used blackra1n to jailbreak your device it means it's a tethered jailbreak, this means you have to have blackra1n running BEFORE you plug in your phone to the computer to restart it.

Shut your phone down completely...
Restart your computer...
Open up blackra1n...
Plug in your phone and power on...

Blackra1n should recognize the phone and boot it fully into the O.S.

This is the EXACT mistake I made when I used blackra1n however, I...upgraded the baseband and the version so I was screwed for awhile.

it's not a tethered jailbreak because it's a 3G and not a 3GS, but this might still work.

Re: Bricked or what?

By the way stupid question...when your doing all this are you right clicking on blackra1n and choosing "run as administrator?

If your not...that's a big big problem.

You have to do it EVERY time you run blackra1n
