Re: Locked Sim Card

Do NOT and I repeat do NOT update your device through a push update via iTunes, you will be bumped up to the latest firmware and if you do that your screwed.

yeah if you are updating thru itunes to 3.1.2 (nothing above!) then hold shift and hit update. Do not ever update thru itunes officially.

Re: Locked Sim Card

It would be nice to know the current firmware, model, and baseband that you have. You can find all this information at:

Settings>general>about

The information we need to know to help you would be the following in that screen:

Version:
Model:
Modem firmware:

After you give us this information, I'll write a nice tut for ya.

he has an iPhone 3G on 3.1.3, I told him he can jailbreak it but he can't unlock it (cuz he's on 5.12.01 and I can pretty much guarantee he's got a bootloader above 5.08 so fuzzy won't work).

He's going off the tutorial I put in the jailbreaking thread on jailbreaking 3.1.3 (basically reflashing a jailbroken 3.1.2 ipsw) right now we're just basically troubleshooting. I ran into some errors when doing this and iReb got me going just fine.

Once Spirit comes out soon things will be so much easier

Re: Locked Sim Card

All the tools that he needs are right here:

http://ih8sn0w.com/index.php/welcome.snow

I would start off with f0recast that will tell you what you need. If your on baseband 5.12.01 your sim unlock solution isn't gonna happen.

If you want to wear your F5 key out go to limera1n.com and wait till the 30th, it's supposed to be the expected release date for geohots latest unlock and jailbreak. This is rumored to be an untethered jailbreak.....yiipppeeee!

Spirit is also supposed to be releasing a jailbreak which would allow you to use your devices browser only to free your device...as orange kid stated, I'm waiting for this o e myself!

if you want you can just wait for that and JB it in like 30 seconds.
