Video Wallpaper

some of you already know about this, but on jailbroken iphones you can actually have a video playing as your Springboard wallpaper (where you icons and stuff are). You can do custom ones too

It just plays behind the icons, and some of the videos look really cool. It also allows you to have videos load for ringtones (with some music videos you can download). You can put in custom ones too.


Here's what you do:

open Cydia and search for vWallpaper (the source will already be there on your updated cydia). Download the app, and it will respring for you.

now you open the app, and click on video wallpaper,

Now you can hit Enable Video! which will override whatever else you can going as a wallpaper before. Hit select video to choose one they have (hit the red circle to enable deleting) you can also go to download videos to get some new ones from the skrew source.

same thing for the ringtones, you can set it to contacts etc...

I have not been able to find any other rep sources, but I do know how to add custom videos. You have to be able to SSH into your iphone (see the post in my sig on how to do that).

I will be making a repository for more videos at some point, but until then you will have to SSH into your phone.

Put the videos into .mov or .mp4 format in HVGA (320x480) and you will be good to go. SSH into your Iphone and place the videos into:


/Var/Mobile/Media/Skrew/Videos
it defaults into stash, so if you can't find it, just go back to root and follow the path above, move your .mp4 or .mov videos and that is all, just restart your Springboard (or phone) and they will be there!

I am attaching some videos i collected from random places online you can add to get you going. Feel free to attach more mp4 or mov files to this thread so we can get a sick repo going for video wallpapers
