I have not exp any freezing on either things that you noted. Its been very fast for me. What apps do you have installed? I'll try playing around tonight to see if I can find anything.

Besides Angry Birds, I have these installed:
Swiftkey X
App2SD Free
ES File Explorer
Sense Analog Clock Widget
Lockscreen Widget
Whatsapp

I had SetCPU for a while. I removed it to see if that was what caused the hiccups, but doing that doesn't seem to have made any difference. I haven't been able to replicate the problem since so I have no idea what the problem was. It's been good ever since though.

First time for me. I'm excited, and a little nervous I'll screw it up.

So I need to manually erase my data before starting?

That probably answers my other question-- will I have to re-load all my data (photos, contacts, music) after getting all done? What about applications?

Yeah, I know the feeling of being nervous, trust me.

Make sure you followed all prerequisites outlined and you have back up of everything.

I would recommend doing a full factory reset while in Recovery mode right before flashing ROM. That way you get a truly clean ROM. You could flash over top of current ROM but that may lead to a mess depending on the ROM you had.

As far as pics and music. Nah, they should be stored on SD Card and that will be unaffected during flash process. Email and contacts... I dont know who you provider is but you will need to resync to the phone. If you use GMAIL this is no problem at all.

I did a factory reset, before reading your reply, so I'm relieved now to read it.

Roadblock: Flashing the ROM now...
When I enter the SU command, permission is denied. Your pdf guide says I can't continue from here. What are my options?

My bad, I had a type in the guide. accrajoe pointed it out to me the other night but I did not get time to resolve....

Type "su" instead of "SU"

Ok. I didn't get the pop up on my phone, but I got the #

I entered the commands which were repeated back to me

Then I did the reboot and it said Xionia at the bottom so I assume I did it right.

But it did not take me directly back to the recovery screen for back up (Step 6)
Is this step necessary? (I'm working with a factory reset already. Is this to backup the Original ROM? Idk... anyway..)

Shall I proceed with backing up or with wipe data/factory reset?

Good deal! Glad you got it working.

The back up step was to create an image of your phone in its current state before flashing my ROM. You could have then used this to restore at a later time if you find you dont like the ROM, etc. But dont worry I have a way to get you back to factory new with no problems at all. Even easier than this was to do. I have the original LG Factory images and diagnostic programs ;c)
