Why does Android need data for Voicemail??
 
GF's data went out.. and before i ran Update PRL for her she kept getting an error: Voicemail services will be restored when Data resumes...... or something to that effect...


WTF!? so if you dont have Data, you cant check your VM?? stupid if you ask me

I' think you can always check voicemail by Holding down the 1 key on the dialpad. The Voicemail app probably uses data to connect and retrieve Voicemail similar to the Picmail. I don't use Sprint's voicemail, all my unanswered calls go to Google Voice, then I get a text telling me what the person said!

As the previous poster stated you can press and hold "1" to call the voicemail, none of the winmo phones have visual voicemail so you probably wouldnt know the differance

Visual voicemail downloads the message as a audio clip, that's why data is used.
