Winmo software on a Android
 

For those with knowledge far greater than mines. I was told years ago that no question was a crazy so here we go. I will be moving over to an Android very soon from a TP2. The question is are their anyways to run my Winmo programs on the EVO, or do I have to just buy the Android version of the programs when they come out:dontknow:. Thnx to all

Nope, its a different OS. WinMo programs will not run on Android.

and most you can get for free or for cheap ($3-$5). :)

and most of them are a lot better than their winmo counterparts imo. pretty much everything is available as well so you shouldnt have too much of a problem finding android replacements

There are almost 60000 apps in the Android market now, a little over 60% of them are free. Most likely you can replace the WM apps you use for free, if not, dont worry too much cause most of the paid apps just cost a dollar or two.

there are 60000 things you can download from the android market, many are far from being "apps" though. but thats just semantics. thanks for that graph though, i didnt know that info before

Open Source simply means that the core code of the Operating System is available to anyone for free. No you cannot install WM apps on Android.

For the complete story look up linux and Linus Torvalds. But the short answer is that it is not closed like windows and apple. you can take the OS and modify and change it even sell it as our own. BUt you must release the source code so others can do the same.
