BigE ROM V1.2 6.5 Build 21857 RealVGA 96dpi With Fixes-CDMA-

3 Attachment(s)
****************************
Get it here: 6.5 V1.2 Build 21857 RealVGA 96dpi
****************************
Highlights:

  • RealVGA 96 dpi
  • Mortscript 4.2
  • Dusk Theme (default)
  • Titanium weather
  • Advanced Config
  • Opera 9.7b1
  • Skyfire
  • Smart Lock 1.7E -enabled by default (start>settings>system>SmartLock to change settings)
  • .Net CF versions 2.0, 3.5 and 3.7
  • reSTART (allows rearranging of start menu items)
  • CHome Editor
  • Advanced Config
  • Registry tweaks added for some performance increases

Fixed Issues in 1.2:

  • PIE now default so IE doesn't crash (for what it is worth)
  • Alt Key actually does what it is supposed to do
  • Ariel Battery installed to replace the dorked-up battery icon(may need some positioning)
  • Sprite Backup now seems to show proper icons and menus (not sure if it actually works though)
  • Scrolling from phone application no longer blurs the contacts together

Known Bugs/Issues/Grips:
  • Titanium radar crashes the home screen (disable it in the settings)
  • A few icons/text here and there looks off due to 96 dpi.
  • End button doesn't lock screen (I don't intend to "fix" this, but who knows)

Are you using the stock WM6.5 PhoneCanvas? If so, does the screen lock during a call?

It is using the stock phone canvas. It does not lock by default ( I figured most people would not want this). The setting can be changed with the Smart Lock app. When enabling the in call lock it does give you the two big sliders, one to answer and one to ignore.

My ROM is designed to get you girls. :)

Seriously though, it has just a few basic types. I assume you are referring to the WM 7 Titanium project? I tried it but had some weird issues with it and gave up on it for now.

How did you get it so scrolling from phone application no longer blurs the contacts together?

I left out the custom Palm phone canvas. Personally I like the default winmobile look better anyway.

You can remove the PhoneCanvas but you lose the screen-locking functionality, so your cheek can hit buttons.

With Smart Lock or through reg edit, it can be locked while in a call.

Nah, it wouldn't be compatible with 320x320 in that case...

You can run RealVGA and select 128 dpi and it should reset everything. I just tried it and all the things I have tried seem fine.

Re: BigE ROM V1.2 6.5 Build 21857 RealVGA 96dpi With Fixes-CDMA-

This ROM is the best WM6.5 ROM I have found for the Treo Pro with 96 DPI. When I try to install Real VGA into the other WM6.5 ROMs, there are cruicial functions that do not work, or various software (e.g. Sprite Backup) which works with WM6.1 at 96 DPI does not work. So far, this ROM works wonderfully. I wish it used the Treo's screenlock routine, but there is a lot of third party software that works well.

I like your rom, all my favorite programs work.

The only issue is the font. I used realvga before and the fonts are ok. How do you change your fonts type?

one example is in googlemaps, when i search, its really hard to read the hand writing font. ClearType doesn't fix it.

Try installing the attached cab file. Sorry, I didn't notice this weird font until much later. I am planning to release an updated ROM soon that will also include more up to date 96 dpi items that fixes most of the oddities associated with using 96 dpi on an unofficial resolution.

zevot, any chance of your updated release coming soon? This looks like a great ROM but I want to avoid having to install the fixes outlined in the thread. Hopping that you update to include it all soon. :)

Thanks

I hope to have a new ROM available soon, probably either 23511 or one of the 2800X releases. I am almost done with working out some of the annoying Palm OEM crap.

I am using your rom and I like it except I am unable to sync it using usb. I tried the enable advanced network functionality trick but it is checked and grayed out so I can't uncheck it...

any advice?

Re: BigE ROM V1.2 6.5 Build 21857 RealVGA 96dpi With Fixes-CDMA-

I had the same prob. i couldn't install another rom, either. what i ended up doing is copying the EnterBootloader.exe file onto my micro sd card, using my micro sd adapter in my laptop, and running it on the phone. Then, I could install another ROM (I'm currently using acidhax's 21872, which runs smooth and fast but doesn't have all the features found in some of the other ROMs. Now I can connect again using USB.

Re: BigE ROM V1.2 6.5 Build 21857 RealVGA 96dpi With Fixes-CDMA-

WiFi doesn't seem to work in the original rom. When I go to "comm manager" and click to turn it on nothing happems. I don't normally use WiFi... but from time to time I use WMWifiRouter which does. I tried clicking on settings and going to the system wireless panel but it doesnt seem to turn on from there either. Is it my treo or the rom? Suggestions?

I checked in the \windows\wrlsmgr and I don't see wifi as an option. In wm6.1 it showed bluetooth,wifi,phone... is wm6.5 different?

Constant freezes when opening programs like opera, skyfire, ie.
Also I'm not happy with the new bottom button layout. Good luck with you guys.

Wow, sorry about your bad experiences. the 23511 ROM has literally performed flawlessly for me. I did have to do two hard resets initially to clear out the cobwebs, but after that NP. Please share your experiences with build 21857. Hope it works well for you.
