They are just built for different things. Some for stablity, some for testing new things, some for stable versions of the new thing if it works well, etc.

com2 is the most stable. If you notice, just about every leaked ROM comes w/ com2

Are all the com2 6.5 ?

Just a guess... com5 are the most stable 6.5x ?

What are AKU 1 builds?

WMD 28xxxx what does that mean?

Yes all com2 is 6.5

com5 seems to be the most stable 6.5.x but the Photon leaks contain com3.3 so maybe Microsoft or HTC thinks com3.3 is more stable.

Not sure about the AKU 1 builds.....My best guess would be very early builds.

WMD is just another branch.

Com 3.3 I have not heard of that. What builds are those.

TMartin- Are you going to hang around after Calkulin has moved on to android? Your post have been very helpful to me (the whole 6 weeks i've been playing with the VK)?

Dont say WMD on a message board! We're prob already being watched by Microsoft, we dont need the gov't watching too :drunken: hahah
They are different Windows Mobile Development groups/teams/releases/COMs.
Advanced Search: Username field - Dwizzy130, Search String - COM5

The reason that it's refered to as 28xxx is that people get all confused when we refer to them by ther COM branch names. Over the past month there have been several releases in each dev branch. 28230 right before 28232. We simplify by saying we are on 28xxx because the builds are similar to one another.

I have found COM5 to be the most cutting edge dev and COM8 (presently 28232 aka anything 28xxx) to be the most stable. I've built with both COM branches of 6.5.x dev and I settled on 28011 for just about as long as I've been on 28232 now. ymmv

As for AKU, I beleive it's a kernel version. COM5 is AKU5.5 and COM8 is AKU5.3
Found this on xda with minimal searching, maybe you can find more in Da_G's SYS-release thread.

"AKU stands for "Adaption Kit Updates" and is something like the Service Packs for traditional Windows (gives you Bugfixes and some new Features)."
