[W/VGA] Jmz Provisioning -- Select your carrier on first boot

Jmz Provisioning
Select your carrier on first boot

Finally, the release of the bug free Jmz Provisioning. Many things have changed since the first beta so please read the notes below carefully.
Release Notes:
  • Leave app.dat file alone.
  • Leave the package the way it is
  • Registry Entries are as follows
  • CarrierCount is how many provisioning cabs you are using
  • Carrier1, Carrier2, and so on are the carriers you want listed
  • Headertext is what you want it to say at the top of the app
  • Carriers is a changing number so don’t worry about that one
  • Firstrun — 1=runcc reboots phone on first boot, 2=runcc does not reboot your phone on first boot
  • Sometimes the app hides so you have to look at task manager to bring it forward. Currently trying to fix this small issue
  • Cab names are Carrier1.cab, Carrier2.cab and so on to match the above reg entries.
  • .NET 3.5 is required.

o.O
JMZ you truly never cease to amaze me =)
I must try this in a cooked rom my friend and this is a great asset to the community especially for users that want multi-platform releases (not carrier specific)

Re: [TEASER] Jmz Provisioning -- Select your carrier on first boot

Possibility of a cab version of this too, but I gotta make sure cooking version actually is effective in implementation.

cab version???
isn't this one thing (and I'm comparing the work nochem did with something similar with his provisioning) nochem didn't do offer it as a cab? hm I guess though DCD made it an OEM and a cab but I never saw it run on autostart though

I heard nochem did something like this for i think the vogue. But I have never seen that at all. Also, this is basically just a frontend for the carrier cabs. And thinking about it now, it is kinda pointless to offer this as a cab. As the user can just install the carrier cab without this.

It is pointless to have a cab for this as you can just install whatever carrier you use. This is primarily for chefs.

Hi JMZ, I have a question, What do you need to put my carrier into your app?

Re: [W/VGA] Jmz Provisioning -- Select your carrier on first boot

wow was looking for this but based on the date i would say this is probably outdated vs juggalo_x's sprint carrier, is there an update planned? i love the carrier provision app in both MR & juicy

Re: [W/VGA] Jmz Provisioning -- Select your carrier on first boot

It doesn't need to be updated, it's just a front end. It doesn't actually contain the carrier files

Re: [W/VGA] Jmz Provisioning -- Select your carrier on first boot

where can i get all the latest carrier files from?

you're missing the point. this is the latest unless your carrier isn't in the file ex: usc

Can Cricket be added to this or may a Generic so I can added my own carrier cab. I am finding that a lot of the ROMs don't work correctly without choosing one. Skipping it doesn't work well all the time.

can you post the error report. The first couple lines should suffice. Also, did you change any of the cab names? that is hard coded. Do you have .net 3.5 installed?

Re: [W/VGA] Jmz Provisioning -- Select your carrier on first boot

Durin my builds I got 2 different erros and neither were attributed to your program. Just happened during your programs execution. I am mentioning this only in the event they are experiencing the same. One was caused by services.exe and the other because runCC and autorun clashed. Which a registry entry was the culprit of that one.

Do you have a newer version with more choices? Like seen in Juicy's ROM and others.

No, I don't. I am an idiot and lost the source. So, I will be rewriting the app and release a new one. Along with more options and flexibility. i.e. changing the buttons to whatever entries cook wants and changing the header to whatever the cook wants also.

Re: [W/VGA] Jmz Provisioning -- Select your carrier on first boot

Just an update to this. I am almost completely done with a new version completely rewritten. Completely customizable, i.e. header, text for carrier selection, and number of carrier selections. I have one little issue to straighten out and it is just a visual problem. So, if anyone knows how to make a label transparent in VB, then please message me because the normal code for the label doesn't work.

Thanks for the hard work looking forward to the new release.

Re: [W/VGA] Jmz Provisioning -- Select your carrier on first boot

Would it be too much to ask if u could include Cricket Mobile into your provisioning app.theres not alot of support for Cricket users with TP2s.For instance i can flash every rom to my TP2 thats flashed to Cricket and almopst every program/app works great. But when i try to get my wap/data connection settings working on any version of energyrom it never works.but internet always works when i set it up the same way on any other rom.So i was hoping if NRG made a rom with a provisioning app with Cricket in it then maybe i could use NRGs roms which are usually my favorite. Thanks for the consideration

1 Attachment(s)
First time I cooked it in this morning... It didn't go. Trying again and will report back now I'm awake. :)

edit: Ok, it doesn't load. Here's my ext, even when I go back and install carrier1.cab it won't load that either. Help me out a bit someone... Noob moment....

edit2: I can install carrier2.cab, manually, which is generic, but carrier1.cab is uninstallable...

i guess i don't understand what you mean. Do the cabs only not install? or does the app not load at all?

I can't see the app at all, like it's not even there. Just boots as if I'd cooked in sprintprovisioning from calcu's kitchen....

check the task manager. I thought I fixed the bug where sometimes it gets hidden on boot because of autorun and/or runcc.

Re: [W/VGA] Jmz Provisioning -- Select your carrier on first boot

I see it in the taskmanager (quickmenu list) and runcc reboots without invoking it.

Ok, I need to fix that code. It deletes the shortcut on first run. So, runcc reboots the phone the link is gone. I will fix it and post again.
