Verizon radios were best at signal strength but really took a toll on my battery. Guess you have to decide which is more important to you, Battery life or signal strength.

Okay so here you might get the best of both worlds. Its now 5:54 pm where I am and I have been beating the sh** out of this phone! Slapping her with GPS for about half an hour......Punched her with some phone as modem for about 20 minutes!....texting, phone calls, (also running mighty's so smooth 2/1/2010 ROM:)!!).......games.....Internet?...constantly in the background and on PPCGEEKS.com of course......and this phone has 20% battery life. So lets sum that up.....Since 1 am until 10:37 am my phone has been on dim with internet on wifi in the background:coffee:.....I have been beating the hell out of her and she whispers to me that she loves the abuse:cheers:....and now at 5:58 pm she still is here holding on to her last 20% of battery. Now that my dude is one hell of a ride. 17 hours of torture and still holding strong. Ill see how long it goes before it tells me the battery is low.=D> Oh and again Im in the southern region with Sprint and Im talking about the 1.88.07 Verizon so I stand true to that one of these radios is the one just for you and your area. This particular one was mine.:thumbright: Hope that helps. Hope to see some of yall in the Mighty thread....since that has been one of the best roms I have ever had to have tried. Mighty2-01-2010. Something Vicious!

Oh and Ill post back for those who are curious about this radio in a few days and see how the battery holds up.

I also have Sprint and down here in Houston, TX. I have tried all radios and have been testing for speeds. I notice that the Telus radio keeps a constant speed along with being the highest speeds among all the radios. Have anyone tested for speed connections as well?

Ok, I read every single post in this thread so I feel I am entitled to ask a stupid question :)

I have an HTC Touch Pro2 with Verizon. Now apparently the newer the radio does not always mean better reception? Why would Verizon put out a radio with crappier reception?

And here's where I'm majorly confused. Since Sprint is CDMA also, I can use a Sprint radio on my Verizon phone? How the hell is that possible? Doesn't this piss off Sprint?

Also, anywhere in New York City I find Verizon works best, except in my office which is essentially in a dungeon with thick metal walls. I get very, very poor Verizon service (until I walk outside) but my coworker gets great Sprint service. I can flash to Sprint's radio and expect service in my workplace?

because the radio determines how the phone interacts with the towers & not which towers to be on, so if u use a sprint radio then your still gonna be using Verizon's towers so sprint doesnt care

Ah so if I'm a Verizon customer and I flash a Sprint radio I'm still using Verizon's tower?? Just in a different way?

Anyone seen an unlocked version of the Telus radio? I use with Calkulin's roms and the Telus radio works great on my TP2. I ran the Telus radio on my TP originally which worked fabulous for the area we're in. My brother insists on using a Verizon stock rom on his TP2. Not very many dropped calls with the Telus radio. The Verizon radio's produce too many dropped calls.

His has the error "Device is unable to determine current country. Please verify your current location." which pops up a lot and annoys the hell out of him. Don't know whether or not there is a cab fix for the nag, or does he need to run a custom rom, or get an unlocked Telus radio.

Thanks!

Wow. Thanks. I gotta give this a shot. I was worried about flashing to Sprint because in New York City Sprint coverage isn't as good as Verizon but from what I'm gathering even if I flash to a Sprint radio that doesn't matter?

Re: [RADIO COLLECTION] - - [UPDATE 01-15-10] Rhodium_W Radio ROMS Telus is up!

quick question so i don't have to try every single radio before getting the right one...

right now i'm on cricket network in houston.

i have the 1.96 sprint radio that came with my phone...
i'm getting:

Rx Power: -80 to -95 dbm
Rx Ec/Io: -5 to -8 db
Rx FER: 0 to 3%

so it seems like all the values are excellent except for the Rx Power. so that why i am wanting to try a new radio.

can anyone tell me, based on their experience and trials and errors, which radio so far has given them the best signal values in Houston with the cricket network??
