Hey TJ,

In my experience I have found that the available memory has no real direct correlation with whether you install CABS to the phone storage or the storage card.

When you install a CAB to the storage card, there is a small amount of Program memory that gets used just like if you were to install that same CAB to the Phone Storage.

Maybe I am way off base here, but I used to focus on putting all my CABS on my Storage Card, only to find that my phones available memory was still pretty low after a day or two use. 35MB to 40MB Free or 75% to 85%.

I then chose to put all my CABS in the XDA_US folder on the storage card and just install them all to the phone storage.

Low and behold, I experienced the same low memory as when I used to put them all on the storage card.

I think it boils down to how many CABS a person has installed and not so much whether they are installed to the SC or the Phone Storage.

Thoughts?

EDIT:

With 90% of my 33 CABS installed to the Phone Storage, on a softreset, my free memory is 60% or 75MB.

Ooops set off a chain reaction..hehehe...

I guess there can be base to it as when you install things to your card it may take a bit longer to load the program to start...as your phone is reading from the SC memory instead of the Phones Storage...I personally install most of my tweaks on the Phone storage and programs on the SC...

But as always as we discover it is all about personal preferences and what works for you...its called having cake and eating it too...:D...:evil4:

I assumed the file access to things installed to the SC was something that I did not have to comment on, as I agree with you 100% on that, and is another reason I install to the phone.

I was merely addressing the whole free memory issue, based upon install to SC or Phone Storage.

Have a good one!

pam = sprints 30 service that you pay for that legally allows you to tether
sprint = phones internet connection, which you share.

I thought on MightyROM it was fixed so Phone as Modem didn't tell sprint you were trying to use their $30 a month service.

What is this huge performance boost that the new official rom offers suppose to be? i tried it but to be honest FF is a lot smoother. Am i doing something wrong?

just like everything else, that's your opinion. Keep using FF and enjoy it.

Can installing Darknija's taskbar really impact performance that much because that is the only thing different?

There is no way it's going to affect it to the positive. I don't run taskbar's other than what's stock, and DarkNinja's is on FF, while Mike's stock taskbar is on the official. FF is smooth, no doubt. i would no doubt say one of the smoothest 6.5.x rom, but it's not as smooth as official..nor is it intended to be. It's eye candy and smoothness all in one.

Well, on a stock rom if you use sprint (the trick is getting it to sprint because of cmgardian), that "undetected". Now I pay for PAM, so I can use either ok. Actually, I have to use PAM sometimes. If you were to check "force cell connection" registry key, you would find it says sprint.

6.5.5 has better memory management. Hence why it might seem smoother...
