Is there any reason to dl the sprint specific version ?

Nope. You should be fine. Just added the two ROMs to make life a little easier for people on Sprint and VZ.

What's the reason to run 6.5.x as opposed to 6.5 or 6.1 if you have spbms as the front end?

6.5 has the same speed and RAM issues as 6.5.x, but without the additional touch friendliness. So, if I'm going to not have 6.1, there's no reason for 6.5 over 6.5.x.
Ideally, I would build a ROM with 6.1; however, I am having some issues with my 6.1 + newer packages, and haven't had the time and patience to sort it out. So, till then, I'm just using 6.5.x. When I have a little more free time, I do plan on putting a ROM together similar to this one, but with 6.1 instead. Should be a pretty quick ROM

Thanks

Correct.

That will be idEal rom for me as well.
in my novice opinion...
6.1 + no tf3 or sense + overclocked + spb = AMAZING

My Verizon TP2 does not seem to like this ROM.

I have tried the original version which would not do the initial load. I downloaded again and reflashed. It started but froze at the SBP screen every time.

I tried the new Verizon version and it will not load. Says Starting Windows and freezes.

I have done Task29, load from USB, load from SD. Nothng seems to work. Am I doing something wrong? I have flashed a zillion Roms with no issues. I would really like to give this one a try if I can.

Yikes. I don't know what to tell you! Others seem to have had no issues with getting the ROM loaded up, and though there seemed to some issue with VZ provisioning, no one else seems to have a non-booting ROM.

The only think I can think of is that its not actually freezing at the SPB screen. Apparently, Mobile Shell is expired when you load up the ROM, so you need to register before you can start using MS. When it "freezes" in Shell, see if other phone operations are functional. That might explain it?

6.1 "I" :notworthy: Love this rom so far, but I always go back to 6.1. I flash about 2 to 3 times a week I know I need a life.

Forgive my ignorance,...but have u tried this?

It appears to have some recent apps.
I tried the "Sprint Basics 1.4 ROM" (listed in the first post) which was quite good as well.

I would add:

Flash to shipped verizon ROM.

Then try and reflash pavanmaverick ROM.

That was worked for me every time.

Yeah, I've tried it. But I have Calk's kitchen set up, and moving to another kitchen just wasn't doing it for me

I have to say, though, that with this new MS ROM of mine, I don't notice a really substantial difference between 6.1 and 6.5.x. I think Manila + 6.5.x slows things down, but 6.5.x is not inherently *noticeably* slower than 6.5.x. I also remember that with 6.1, I cannot get my pretty icons to work (I have to make them into icos, then import them into a dll and then set up my shortcuts all over again! Whatta pain!). So, all things considered, I may stick with this ROM for a little bit before experimenting again.

I might try building this ROM so MobileShell isn't expired on start up and I want to incorporate Fingerkeyboard into the ROM. But other than that, I am really happy with what I have.

Also, here's a little tip. Under MobileShell settings, disable the stupid animations and you will feel your phone feel even more perky!

Maverick- what version of shell are you using? any other widget packs included??
I'm a bit partial to MS so I'll flash the generic in the morning, provision for Sprint and give it a spin. What's the pp you're running? and glyph cash?
