I have removed the Sprint 2.1 original manila themed RETRO rom due to some incompatible items which were most likely dependant upon Windows Mobile 6.1. I will continue to keep the Sense 2.1 Retro ROM available and update as necessary. Enjoy guys!

that is cool that the 6.1 is removed but the 2.1 is having the same issues as the 6.1 was having with the contacts saving correctly. I used the 6.1 and added the weather editer and it was by far the fastest rom I have used on this site but the problem was that the contacts would not save when attempting to enter a new contact in the device. I did not have any issues with this rom at all except for the contact issue which remains an issue with this 2.1 rom just like the old reliable 6.1 you posted.

I would be happy if you can post a cab that will allow the done button to work when saving a contact to the device and I will rock out the 2.1. I cant use this 2.1 without the contacts being able to save to the device though.

If you post a cab to fix this issue I am sure I can get the 6.1 to work for me and or I can rock out this sweet 2.1. I would just be happy if you could fix the contact issue cause I am able to fix all the other little bugs with my reg editor program for each of these roms.

Thanks for all you do and for looking into the bugs for these kick butt roms and if you get a chance please post a cab to fix the contacts issue that allows us to save our contacts because these roms would be perfect if they are fixed.

While I love my TP2, I have gotten fed up with the slow response times to open SMS, email, browsers, etc. I have pre-ordered the EVO, so I decided to flash my TP2 with a more stock-like Sprint ROM (Sense 2.1, WM 6.5). I installed this one and my phone has come back to life. I think my main slowdown issues before were due to a combination of Sense 2.5 and Cookie home tab.

While I miss some of the features of 2.5 and Cookie, the speed greatly outweighs missing those updated features. Our phones weren't intended to run Sense 2.5 and the lower spec hardware compared to native 2.5 phones (i.e. HD2) makes a difference.

For anyone that has been using 2.5 for a while, I dare you to go back to a Sense 2.1 based ROM and get back the responsiveness you may have forgotten existed.

I pre-ordered my Evo last Friday! lol Can't wait to get it!!! I flashed back to 2.1 for the hell of it, and it is a considerable difference - forgot how fast my phone could be!

edit: Chris, kimi_sae_ireba over at XDA a while back ported the mail and the calendar tab from 2.5 to 2.1 - it would be awesome if you could get those in your 2.1 ROM! :)

edit 2: found the cab for the 2.5 email port (cab attached to post), still looking for the calendar port.

ROM update will be posted today with working contact add function as well as some other asthetic tweaks. I will also try ro add the Sprint 2.1 version back into the mix as well for those who liked it :headbang:

Thought i would give this rom a try, it's great no doubt but i think your other work on sense 21889 rom is where the true greatness is at especially since the menus have been fixed :mrgreen: I can't wait to see what kind of future updates all of your rom have to offer.

Chris, I've been using your 21889 6.5 ROM for a while now and it works great, but it is a bit slower than I would like (especially when it comes to SMS/MMS). I'm considering switching to either your 6.5.x ROM or this RETRO one. I don't use twitter, so I wouldn't miss that tab at all, but I do love the program links on the Home Tab (and the option of using the CHT mod, though I realize that slows things down a bit).

I'm guessing this ROM would be the fastest of your 3, but is your 6.5.x faster than your 6.5? Would it be worth me trying that to see if it speeds things up? Or if speed is really what I'm looking for, should I just go straight to retro?

Also, if I'm correct, you've moved on to the EVO--so thanks for all the work you put into the TP2.

The 6.5X is a lot faster in my opinion however you truly cannot beat the speed of the retro roms. They are blazing fast in comparison.

I installs your rom (HC BLACK) yesterday, and it's great!
The only problem is that I cannot add a contact.
When i click add new contact or "save to existing" it doesn't respond.

Not sure what music player on the home screen you are referring to. Was it a shortcut? I only remember either WM Player or HTC's music player which was built into the sense tab.

ive just recently started flashing and now iam addicted.lol although i think iam gonna stick with ure retro sprint 2.1 for quite a while , cause this thing cooks! i was also uneasy about only booting with about 107mb compaired to the mr x rom i had which booted with about 120mb ram but honestly i think ures is a bit snappier for some reason. i just flashed it so ill have to let u know in a few days but so far iam exstatic. nice job

Well... This is only my 3rd custom ROM ever. Here's my feedback comparing this ROM to Energy and the stock Sprint ROM:

PROs
1 - WAY faster than Energy or Sprint
2 - No issues with stability. Energy was really really buggy for me, particularly with bluetooth. Sprint often lags when opening certain apps. I have had no issues with either on this ROM.
3 - Text messaging actually loads when I hit the SMS button. This didn't happen on the Sprint stock rom.
4 - THANK GOD there is a task manager in the upper right corner on the home screen. I missed that ever since I ditched my Treo Pro a year or so ago.
5 - Everything just loads quickly. This never happened for me in the Stock Sprint ROM.
6 - All of the original Sprint apps are included, including "update prl" and "update profile" which I have not seen in other custom ROMs. This was a problem for me in the Energy ROM since I had to re-flash my phone to sprint to get data working, then re-flash back to energy. It's nice to have everything included.
7 - Bluetooth end call actually works. This does not work in Energy. In the Energy ROM, you press the end call button on your headset and the whole phone freezes. This ROM does not have that problem at all.
8 - Wifi Router is an awesome addon!

CONs
The only CON that I have is I liked the shortcuts to apps on the home screen, but there is a whole page of apps you can customize in HTC Sense, so it really isn't an issue. It really is something I will get used to quickly.

Bottom line - No complaints. This is exactly what I have been looking for to extend the life of my Touch Pro 2. I haven't wanted to upgrade to SERO Premium, and this lets me stay on my super cheap $30 plan for longer. :)

Chris, I had flashed your Sprint Lovers 6.5... liked it.... tried your 6.5.x and really liked the Touch Friendly aspect of 6.5.x... but both of those ROMs (and all others I've tried) seemed a little laggy now and then.

I've been using your Sprint Lover Retro 6.5/2.1 with HTC theme and the 2.5 email and calendar cab ... and all I can say is WOW. Thanks for putting life back into my phone! I've been considering a switch to the EVO4G or another Android device, but i have some WinMo software I just can't get on Android (yet) so I really need to stick with this phone a while.

I'm not sure if this ROM is still being worked on, but I have found a very minor bug if it is still in development.

You can go into contacts and save a contact just fine, but if you try and save a phone number from your call log it does not work. My phone just sits there like I haven't pressed any buttons when I try to save numbers from the call log.

Anyway, aside from this small bug I really love this ROM. :)
