The wallpaper and icons issue you guys are seeing is a very, very old bug in PPST and nothing new at all. It does no damage, and is really not reason to be any more careful than you would have been otherwise. These updates are generally applied by a stock rom RUU on your running device *before* flashing the new ROM, therefore, they are followed by a hard reset. You are running the update manually and alone and may see the PPST bug.

No offense to anyone, but if you are not willing to hard reset your device you probably should not be here looking for PRI updates to apply manually.

Also I can't guess what PRI stands for but what it is is non-volatile settings. For example, if you go into PPST and change your audio codec from EVRC to Voice 13K, that setting will remain after a hard-reset or ROM flash, because it is an NV (non-volatile) radio parameter. These are what the PRI sets. A new PRI means a change in some parameter passed to your radio at low level.

Whenever I find the need to hard reset....I fiqure it is time to flash and try out a new ROM...........

Not even close. The way PRI is used in that context is actually used in the telcom world. It's basically a trunk of lines used for voice channels. It stands for primary rate interface.

In this winmo world, I have no idea what it stands for.. but I think it has something to do with sprint provisioning. I'd like to think of it like a computer bios firmware but for carrier phones.

Update... PRI update apparently is carrier specific. it stores the band ranges that the carrier is supposed to use. I wouldn't use this unless you are a Sprint customer.

sorry did not think it was the answer but got some good imput from you on understanding what it was thank you

Hmmm, not sure if it's related, but today, after installing the new PRI, my tethering (using Internet Sharing) disconnects almost exactly every 10 minutes. Didn't used to do that...hmmm

here's the link to the post to go back to 1.53 if you so choose: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...62&postcount=4

I've been tethered using the HTC Wifi sharing app and it didn't disconnect at all, I don't have a usb cable to test that way.

Run Cab
go to windows folder on device and run program called PPST.exe
let it run, and retart device, and you will have it updated.

Thanks For the PRI & Radio!
I think my battery will need a few recharges to relearn what it was like to not work at such warm temps.
Essentially, I just typed this on my TPro and was suprised to learn that it had downloaded my email in the background. Usually it warms up so much thatthat I already know before any notification pops up.
Holy crap I've never been able to get above 1.4Mbit at the same location:

Curious where these files were extracted from?

out of curiosity, how would this update affect the signal strength? Prior to installing, while at home always had full signal strength. Now it bounces from 1-2 bars and then back to full occasionally, but it's more consistently at 1-2 bars and drops to 1x more frequently now while tethering. I also updated the radio to the 1.12, but when I saw that my signal had dropped, I flashed back to 1.11 with the same results
