Re: [ROM] [MAY.01.09] MightyROM 4/R3BORN

Look at Lordshadowz FAQ. He's got a ton of info regarding the GPS, with a focus on Verizon. As far as the "My Location" thing, I don't think I've ever gotten it to work. However, if you select "Use GPS" from the menu, it will find you.

If someone does have the "My Location" working, please post about it. I never tried really hard to use it because I either use tomtom or put google maps in satellite view so I can watch myself drive down the road. :)

My GPS does not 'work right out of the box' with this ROM. Does not work with google maps or with HTC GPS tool. Anyone have some troubleshooting/testing tips I can try?
I have my location set to on.

Also, has anyone with Verizon service and a touch pro gotten google's 'My location' to work?
Any settings to tweak to get that to work?

thanks!

I used bored's VZW GPS v 2.0. Worked perfectly. Set the baud rate to 56700. The thread is in this forum with download attached. Follow the instructions exactly. (BTW, when you find ppst.exe in the windows folder, run it).

Get QuickGPS too. It downloads accurate GPS location data to phone to allow faster acquisition of satellites.

Mighty claims that his ROM enables GPS out of the box, and he advises not to use bored's GPS fix with his ROM.

While I cannot confirm or deny that statement, the bored GPS fix patches the radio, which is something most of these custom ROM's don't touch.

For me, I could not get the GPS to function on Verizon without the bored patch. Once installed, worked perfectly. In the bored thread, there are several folks running mightyROM with no ill effects.

Can someone tell me if it is possible to use a kitchen to add OEM's to Mighty ROM? For example if I put the Mighty ROM nbh file into JD or Calkulin's kitchen folder, (i.e. use their engine and OEM files) would that work? Thanks.

Mighty mike, can you confirm that the bored patch works ok with your reborn rom?

I started with MightyROM5, then reflashed to R3BORN. I found MightyROM5 was brutally slow with occasional freezes. Never got GPS to work in MightyROM5 but other problems prevented me from working it out.

So, I'm on R3BORN with bored VZW v2.0 fix and luvin' it.

Just wish I could get Javascript to run on Opera.](*,)

Cool, that is exactly where I want to be.
The only problem is that there is no ppst.exe in my windows directory, so I could never complete the install successfully. I've looked several times, using total commander, file explorer, etc. I'll try again with Launchppst.exe which I got from Scrosler's ROm, because bored seemed to think that would work.

Launch the bored cab file (I did it from a storage card). Do a soft reset, then look in the /windows directory. Make sure you allow viewing hidden files. It will be copied into there. Really.

Then run it. It'll do a soft reset. Don't forget the *228 option 1 step.
