I've used Pocket Shield since very early on and I've never had it affect my GPS. I am currently using 3.2.0.5 and am experiencing no issues.

For instance in Google Maps You see in the top right corner you see Aquiring Satelites...Satelites Found(6)...Then it shows my location on the map and then within a few seconds the screen goes Black and the phone reboots! It's pretty much the same with GpsSpot, and TomTom!
Any Idea what might be causing this?

This is incredibly odd.. I just had this happen this morning while trying to use the GPS on a outing for work today, and the GPS hasn't worked since.. I have yet to try a hard reset, I was planning on doing that right after checking the forums for similar problems to see if there was some simple fix. It's entirely possible that it's a coincidence, but TomTom in particular did exactly as 0Gravity described, Google Maps seemed to lockup rather than do a sudden reboot though.

Yea mine is still doing it...it was not Pocketshield, the problem returned!
Well at least I am not the only one having the issue....thats good for me but unfortunately bad for you...let me know how it turns out...Im wondering if it has something to do with the "Location Service" or the Weather tab, I have tried disabling both but still no luck!
What other GPS programs are you running? Just to see if we have any others in common.

I'm leaning towards a coincidence that it's just happend to the both of us, I flashed back to stock and tried the Bing application and it did the same black screen into a reboot when I tried to use the GPS that I was getting initially. It's looking like a hardware failure in my case at least. =/

You guys with gps problems, have you tried a different radio? You could also try disabling aGPS, it's in settings-system.

I hate to bring it up more but I am suffering from the same problem. I have tomtom and when the phone tries to get a lock it simply reboots. Thats all. Like it had enough or something. I've tried flashing back to stock with a stock radio and all to no avail. I wonder if it has to do with prl update cab I installed.

Of course that would explain my phone but not my wifes who only had the nrg rom on hers and its doing the same thing and I refuse to believe its hardware failure at the same time on both phones. THis whole thing has got me perplexed to the max. Tom tom , google , garmin all refuse to see gps device.
Reflash and hardreset won't fix it. It's gotta be something I can do. I just don't know what.

Oh and I flashed on 2 different computers. Thinking it was just a bad flash. And I re d/led it to boot. THe rom that is. Wanted it all fresh in case it worked. *sigh* Don't worry psyki , I dumped in nrg's thread also. It just so happens someone here had the same problem. I apologize in advance if i offend you in anyway.

Interesting, Psyki's theory makes sense, perhaps we're getting a corrupt almanac download from aGPS/QuickGPS.

Well, I reflashed to Psyki4_929, made sure to not use QuickGPS, flashed to the latest Sprint radio, and TomTom appears to work, at least in so much as it got a lock from my desk here at work. It will be interesting to see if the problem is gone, or just intermittent. Either way it seems to be an outside force rather than any sort of issue with the ROM. Thanks for the help brainstorming Psyki.

I want to say I got my phone working now!!!!! Haven't worked on the wifes yet but mine is all I care about. j/k : )

Anyways , after being up all night and wrestling all day with this 500pd monkey on my back I got it going. How you may ask....well I don't really know. Let me retrace my steps.

1. Change computers I usually flash from. Don't know if it helps but at this stage anything is fair game.
2. Redownload all files. That goes for psyki's rom , new radio , stock radio and of course stock rom.
3. Flash away....and boy did I flash. Stock to custom to stock radio to new radio.
4. Try out the gps at every junction.

after all that I was noticing that my location settings was greyed out. Not sure if thats by design on psyki's rom or not but its greyed out. And when I would do the quick gps it would say do you want to enable..? I said yes. d/l qgps and voila'! It works. Now I want to make clear I tried that earlier but it didn't work. Not sure what was different but regardless whatever was ****blocking is gone now. I can't say how happy I am at this point. I could prolly jump over a 4ft kid right now. I'm not kidding.
