Sprint Touch Pro TP MSL (not for troubleshooting)

EDITED AND REMOVED: I was given bad info and my attempt to help was ill-received; thus pointless.

Sprint still has each device with its own MSL, there is no universal MSL. My old TP had a different MSL than yours, completely unmodified at the time.

Ron is correct every phone has it's own code. If I remember correctly every phone usually comes with two MSL codes. There is a 1 time use code (usually used at the sprint store when provisioning you phone), and then the standard MSL which I think Sprint generates randomly and can be used more than once.

"Try 713689

If this doesn't work for you and you're SURE you haven't modifed your phone in such a way that it should"

I'll be sure to edit the post to make that a bit more clear.

Still, thanks for the effort.

um, way to be a jerk. they responded the way they did because this thread of yours is useless -- sprint's MSLs are generated from ESNs and MEIDs, and each phone has a different ESN or MEID. thus, they're all different and posting a list of numbers to try is just a waste of everyones time. for a touch pro, a simple registry tweak to turn on logging will give you your MSL. a freeware registry editor like phm's is all you need. none of this guessing, trial and error crap.

and if you really want to save someone time, list links to all those how-to threads that youre talking about.. since they actually might work.

I would be very interested to see this. From personal experience, you probably got a rep who was just tired of talking and wanted to give you a quick explanation. And or... didn't know what they were talking about (yes that does happen) Krielys is correct about the MSLs being generated off of the serial number and from personally activating a ton of those devices i can tell you the MSL and the OTKSL are NEVER (with a few minor exceptions) the same from phone to phone

You should have posted this in the regular HTC Touch Forum, instead of here.

We all know these guys (Tech Support) like to talk out there butt and spew ignorance on a regular basis, but maybe he knew what he was talking about. Guys heard of the provisioning MSL? Not likely because by the time we get the phone it's been used. Open QPST and you'll find that you can assign a 2nd MSL and set the number of times it's valid.

Just a thought.

Okay folks, just to humor the man, I tried it!!! IT DID NOT WORK! This is with a BONE stock Touch Pro. I received it brand new today as an insurance replacement and it is unmodified in ANY way. As many have said, the MSL's are device specific, otherwise they wouldn't serve a point. If there was a universal MSL, there would be no point in having device specific codes at all, as everyone would just use the universal one. As for obtaining your MSL, BafMSL Grabber is definitely the way to go. I have never heard of someone having it not work
