Custom ROMs Signal Display + Airave

This is going to sound lame... so I apologize in advance. Please don't kill me with sticks.

I've seen a few threads about this, sort of... but no real information.

I use an Airave at both of my primary locations (office & home) due to signal retardation.

Yes, I know that the Airave supports only 1x transmissions (and only data when EVDO is not available).

In stock ROMs (even if I flash back to one of the stock w/ XYZ PP ROMs), for whatever reason, the signal always reads out at full (or whatever I am getting off of the Airave) with the EVDO logo. I don't know what exactly to call it, the "primary" (lol) signal is full... so any signal meters or PUI applets/etc all show that I have a full signal.

Now, if I use any non-stock custom ROM (Mighty at the moment) my signal is no different, but instead my EVDO signal is the "primary" (again, yes... I know I am lol here) and all of my above mentioned things show no signal.

Remember, in both cases I have the EVDO icon and whatever signal strength is being reported. This is not a case of it shows 1X on the stock ROMs (even though I do understand that IS what the signal strength actually IS).

Does anyknow know what exactly the difference in ROMs is that causes this?

I am only interested (since it doesn't actually affect performance) because I apparently have secret hidden OCD and it is irk'ing the $#%! out of me to see 0 bars on everything unless actually in a call.

Thanks in advance to those who've read this dumb post and also to anyone who might have some insight.

If it helps any... I'll gladly donate to the person who makes a project out of this and determines what the difference in roms is (between stock and custom) and how to fix it.

Re: Custom ROMs Signal Display + Airave

whats even weirder, i have airrave, and with kk 1.8 signal is low, and ssk 1.6 signal is high, go figure, but on incoming call, goes to full bars.

Not sure why it does the difference, my guess is the SYS version has something to do with acknowledging the existence of the airrave. PRL has something to do with looking for the airrave too i would guess, i am running the latest w evdo data triangle from corolado page.

Re: Custom ROMs Signal Display + Airave

This can strongly be due to the Carrier oems the person that is cooking the rom is using, lets say he uses official sprint carrier oem, then it should have all the regular sprint configuration, and show same signal with airave as the stock rom, but if the chef has a Generic carrier oem then it is build to work with all the cdma carriers settings so it might be off by a little or more with airave, but still should not effect the performance of it.

Try installing this on a custom rom your using, and then reset, and see if it makes any difference or still the same.

I was really excited to see, but sadly no change. I appreciate the idea and responses, though... very much.

It's just a shame. I feel silly, but I am so conflicted over using MightyROM (I did try others and all were the same) or a stock ROM just because of this, lol.
