Simple instructions left out when flashing!!
 

So maybe I am still overwhelmed and excited at the same time from the flashings, ROM's and Radios for my phone......

But I had a very tough time flashing my phone for the first time... Unlocking was fine.. But I don't think I read anywhere in the stickies to download WinRAR before starting the flash process. Maybe I missed it.. But I've checked.

I think its something that would save alot of noobies time and less stress. Most of the new ROMS are setup to run from the desktop to your phone aslong as you have WinRAR installed. It took me a good 30 minutes to have someone suggest to me what I was missing.

Maybe we can see it stickied as well.

that's definitely a good suggestion, because I have had to tell n00b's that dozens of times that were strugling, because they had no clue what a rar file is. You should send a PM to the OP of the how to threads and request it be added.

I thought so..... Dont quite know how to PM the OP incharge of that, but it should be done. I had to tell someone on it aswell. I dont mind. Thats what this is all about anyways but does help out noobs tremendously....

I figured it was pretty self explanatory with the extension RAR. Even Windows will search the file extension for you and tell you how to open a RAR file.

My rule is if you can't figure out how to use RAR files then you really shouldn't be flashing a high dollar phone such as the TouchPro.

if the person wanting to flash does not know what a rar file is, i suggest them to return the phone

Actually I didn't really pay attention to the extentions since I never had to use that program before. I was following the instructions on how to flash as I am sure alot of us do whe we first start for the first time.

But if there are "noobs" as knowledgible as yourself. Then obviously they can figure out to install WinRAR before flashing........

+1 We were all n00bs at some point, but if you take the initiative to hack this phone and flash it, it is expected you do a simple google search on something you do not understand. If you are not willing to do basic research, leave your phone stock.

And I agree with you on that. Obviously we can all google winRAR to install. All I was saying is that in the original post, no one mentions the need for it. I never used it. I'm running vista 64bit, and it just didn't allow me to save the file to my desktop with out it. I've been upgrading blackberries for years before this, never needed winRAR.....

Good point...but they are still gonna litter up the forum asking several times in several different threads why they can't get it to work. Better and more complete instructions will benifit all of us.
