February 22, 2009 | ROM Information / Community Site Is Live

You may remember a recent idea I had to start a rom review/rating thread. Well with the collaboration of ideas and suggestions from the community, we have not only changed the original idea to a non-opinion information thread (to start of with at the least) but we have also moved the project to google sites, so that many users can contribute directly, rather than have one person just edit one post.

Here is the site as it stands, I am still working on porting information over from the original post.
http://sites.google.com/site/ppcgeeksproject/

The site is similar to a wiki, but with a simpler WYSIWYG editting interface. It can be a pain trying to do extensive things, so if you have trouble, just keep trying different things, or just keep it simple. HTML coding is possible if you are knowledgable in that.

The site will still be monitored by not only myself, but the community as a whole, similar to wiki. If you would like a invite to be a contributer, please PM me your email and I will send you an invite.

There will be no tolerance for unwanted editting. No, we won't dismiss you as a contributer for spelling something wrong, or adding false information you may have not been clear about. But things like erasing everything, adding inappropriate words or wording, or bashing any rom will not be tolorated and we will make sure those edits will be your last.

Let's get this thing a rockin. Once the site is complete with the initial setup and all intial information is inputed, I will edit this post to be more of an introduction for the people coming new to the boards wondering all about the rom.

This looks very promising and will definitely help noobs pick a rom.....but this will also be very difficult to keep updated with new roms releasing all the time. Hope you can stay on top of it

That was a fear of a lot of people, including myself over a long period of time. It's one of the main reasons we switched the project to google sites, so that many people can contribute and update the page. :)

Thansk for the interest tsousan.

I am also asking the authors of a lot of the sticky threads if a page can be made with their information as well, so hopefully they will allow that and the information also posted there, such as how to unlock, and how to flash roms, etc. If they say no, I suppose we could always re-write the information ourselves, still giving credit to them.

I like what you came up with. The comparison grid will be a very handy reference.

Yea, using google sites will allow for a much more presentable site as well, it should be a win win situation all around.
