ActiveSync not recognizing TP in bootloader mode... help!

My Sprint HTC TP is unlocked, but when I put it in bootloader mode and then hook it up to my PC via USB, active sync tries to connect, but fails. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I need to have it sync'd in bootloader mode in order to put a new ROM on my TP, right?

Are you sure it's unlocked? They all say "security unlocked" on them, but unless it says cmonex somewhere on it, it's not really unlocked.

Re: ActiveSync not recognizing TP in bootloader mode... help!

The full text of the bootloader screen is:

Security Unlocked
RAPH800
SPL-0.37.CMONEX
MicroP-Hermann (LED) V0C85
MicroP-Hermann (KEY) V0685
PSOC-Raph STAGE_EVT v20

Thanks for any help you can provide

What version of windows are you on? Have you tried doing it without putting it in bootloader first?

Re: ActiveSync not recognizing TP in bootloader mode... help!

I'm running XP. I can flash it without putting it in bootloader? Can I just ActiveSync it as I regularly do? It will sync up just fine when I'm not in bootloader mode. If so, then I can just un-rar the ROM, and run the 'Custom_RUU.exe' while it is sync'd? Sorry for all the what must seem easy questions.. I'm new to this but trying to get up to speed!

When it's in bootloader mode, you're not using async. When it's in bootloader mode it will say 'serial' at the bottom. When you plug your tp into a usb port, then the 'serial' changes to read 'usb'. At this point you're ready to flash by running the rom update utility for your rom of choice and follow the directions. Hope thi helps.

I find it much easier to just copy the ROM file to the root of my SD card and load it from there. Much quicker and I do not have to dink with AS.

You will need to rename the file to: RAPHIMG.nbh

I keep several ROM versions on my SD in case I run into any issues and do not need a PC around to reflash.

You aslo might want to look into UC to install the other cabs that are not included in the ROM you are flashing to.

Thanks raybudd... one question.. when it changes to USB, is it supposed to be sync'ing at this point? When I go from serial to USB, it attempts to connect in ActiveSync, but I get a popup saying it failed to connect to the device. Is this OK? Can I run the RomUpdateUtility.exe anyway? Appreciate you taking the time to answer my thread.

I always flash from the SD but I am pretty sure that you won;t be syncing when you are in bootloader mode.
