Good starting point for all noobs is PPC kitchen. Very user friendly, easy access to support, lots of good OEM's....

Well, it seems like you should either use
* a kitchen == get exactly what you want
* a loaded rom == get the kitchen sink, without having to build it yourself, or
* a stripped rom == OEM rom w/o the bloatware?

I was a heavy kitchen user for the apache era, but with the newer mogul/touch/touch pro (sprint) I've pretty much stuck with OEM roms and tweaking, as the rom updates have been reasonably good.

For the TP, unless HTC is going to get one out soon with the updated TF3dHD and WM6.5, I'll likely flash a clean custom that gets that combo stable (in a few months I would think)
