what is a concern is what former brought up about everything just installing willy-nilly into \windows and lagging the system because of search time........ but that's a whole other issue and debate.

agreed...there is a lot of storage in the touch pro, its always going to take a couple seconds going into the windows folder, whether you have a stock or bare "nothing else in it" rom

Scott - so you did get ahold of a newer ddi.dll? have you seen or do you expect better performance in landscape layout, similar to what people were getting from Da G's Fuze rom?

bast,

I see you asking about this a lot, I have never noticed my interface running any different speedwise in landscape than in portrait mode. What are the symptoms I should be looking for? Also this new ddi.dll, is it just direct draw? It wont have any affect on Direct3D or OpenGL ES will it? Just curious.

LOL - Thank you, and I still have a memory issue. Even with the extra space, I still get OCN8 "out of memory" issues when I have TF3D running. I have to shut down TF3D to get it to work......bottom line - Memory hogs are still an issue.

Footnote: OCN is coming out with an update where the program will be optimized for PDA's.

Is the OCN program you are using qvga and having to be interpreted (stretched) for vga? I have an old qvga program I ran on the titan and had no memory problems but have loads of them with the touch pro that kill it. I have to soft reset every time before running it to get maximum amount of memory free. I don't have a solution, but was just wondering. I am trying different video drivers, but don't see a huge difference. P.S. sorry if this is off topic, it happens with everyone's rom and scott's is one of the best in terms of memory for me so I am using it currently.

No, its VGA but it's designed for a PNA, not PDA and the TTS option really loads the system. Very poor programming on their part. I also have iGuidance with TTS, and it ran very well on my 6700. Unfortunately, OCN is still my favorite....and I'm anxiously awaiting their update (Like Microsoft - who knows when)

Ok Scrosler. My knee is bouncing up and down and I look like I need a fix for a new kitchen.

If the answers are NO, they go on the SD card. If the answer is YES, then it goes on the Phone.

Bob

Those are good points...my only beef with the SD card is speed. It almost never gets removed, so that is not really a consideration.

I would imagine even my class 6 card is not as fast as the built-in memory (haven't benched it, so may be wrong), and with programs, speed will make them more responsive. Since space is not a consideration like it was on my Dell Axim, all programs go to Main Memory, and SD is reserved for Music, Video, Documents, CAB files, and GPS maps...storage, basically.

Anyway, that's my reasoning...maybe if I get ambitious I'll do some read/write benchmarks.

YEs and no, not sure if its newer but the drivers are now modules instead of dll files. This alone shoudl help improve performance.

I have a Preview ROM coming soon. I am still fine tuning it. I hope to have a link by the end of the night. Some changes on GPS and want to verify with more people. When I upgraded the modularized drivers they allow us to use GPS like "normal" as we no longer have to select COM4. Live Search and Google Maps no longer additional configuration. The down side is VZ Nav no longer works. So after I confirm this GPS change I will see if it is possible to get VZ Navigator working again.

Scott, does this mean that GPSToday would work with the device's GPS? Is that something you could check?

It would be AWESOME!!!
