Fastest Bare-Bones Rom?
 

Hey guys, just wondering if i could get some feedback, i've been searching on the forum for the fastest rom available for the HTC touch pro, but i cant really seem ti find any info.

My dilemma is that i just went from a GSM Treo 680 which had a custom rom, and was the most solid phone i've ever had..it hadnt crashed on me since a year ago practically (when i gut the rom for it), the HTC i've had it for 2 days, already have JD's rom on it and it's crashed on me at least a dozen times so far.

Can anyone help me out? I just want something that can use the internet, text message..and make calls reliably..and that's descently "snappy" if you know what i mean.

i'm currently in the process of trying different ROMs looking for the fastest/most stable i can find as well. i used to think bare bones was the way to go....but i think that is a habit that comes from being a former mogul user as i had to manage the small amount of RAM/storage. niether of those are a factor with this device, so i've altered that requirement.

at this point, i'm just looking for the "fastest/most sable ROM that also has nothing that i don't prefer cooked in that is personal preference and cannot be removed/disabled". an example of what i mean by that is the last version of JD's ROM that i flashed(i forget which one).......the ROM was pretty stable and fast, but included some taskbar icons that i didn't think fit well and found just irritating enough. i could not successfully replace them or revert them back to the stock white ones......very annoying, and ultimately a deal breaker for me.

to this day, the fastest and most stable ROM that i have run on this device is Yay4Jugg's 4.0 w/Opera. you should probably check it out as it is bare-bones as well. my only complaint about it's stock configuration is the included TF3D theme, but this can easily be changed.

i have a couple of ROMs in my list to try this week, but unless something really "WOW"s me i can totally see myself reverting back to Yay4Jugg's 4.0. it's a shame that he hasn't updated it in a while, because it is relatively old, but has continued to out perform the few others that i have tried to date. OP should definately flash it and see for him/herself.

Its not part of this site but alot of peeps that hang here also hang there. Alot of the same mods and all as well.

As afar as clean ROM, well I guess you need to post your carrier before anyone can really answer that.

But on the same note... As I have sated in the two identical posts just like this with in the past 48 hours......

There is no such thing as a best ROM. You need to start downloaing and expermineting or just cook your own and experiment. No one can really answer that question 100% Its all a needs based.

My needs are diff than yours. yours are diffs than JD's, JD's are diff than lllboredlll's, etc etc.... The rally best answer is to download and flash till you find what is right.

But even before you do that take some to search before starting a thread on such an ambiguous topic. There are a few clean ROM's on here and it may be just as easy to search and download then to post and wait for answer.



But to answer your question: If your on VZW check out my ROM or check out lllboredlll's ROM. Mine's clean, his is super clean. I have 4 variations to choose from. BUT if your not on VZW then DONT use my ROM or boreds.

Also look at GC's ROM. Its pretty damn clean and multi carrier friendly.

If you dont mind some constructive feedback on your post....

You should try to use less emphatic statements about themes, loosk, etc. People put in an immense amount of time for you to use there work. Most chefs pick what they like on there ROM. Your verbiage could easily bee seen as degrading.

no he's fine .... this is just an example of why I said its time for me to slow down on sharing my roms hence the word sharing ..... he said that the rom was fast and stable but he didn't like the taskbar which means that he is a user that is hung up on cosmetics more then the stability and the speed in which to be honest most of my tweaks to speed up a rom are done in the background not by regedits but design and placement of files and modules in the rom .... the rom that he later suggest the op to use I HAD A PART IN MAKING THAT BASE .... lol when I make a rom I honestly don't consider to much about cosmetics or anything like that .... so if it made it in there I had to have liked it and thats what matters .

Interesting for a first post your "htc" has a jd rom on it and it crashed on you what can I say that guy rom sucks I use and it crashed on me too better stay away from those it will get ya

Keep up the good work! I have learned form you GC, bored, DCD, Conflipper... Well anyways, this is not at tribute thread... But you get the idea.

Wehna noob sits down and actually cooks his first ROM he will realize what we are really doing on this board.

But your right cosmetic issues are B/S. Stability and speed are all that matter.

I don't understand your statement..

Your rom was installed on my phone by a co-worker of mine who also uses your rom, he's a tester for the device, and i just got mine a few days ago, i didn't even bother running the original rom that came with the phone because i've already heard horror stories.
