If you're running a Touch Pro that's NOT Verizon hardware then you could probably do well with 24 or 16. If you ARE running Verizon hardware, stick to 12 or 6.

I had this exact same problem flashing my phone away from the stock vzw. The only way I found that I could do it was to use PPCKitchen, build up a ROM with nothing in it and just chose the Touch Pro splash screen. If you're just looking to get away from the other ROM's spash, this'll do it. To get something Mike specific, let me know too once you find out!
