Is it pretty easy to cook a rom for VZW?

I got Scotts rom on mine now and I love the interface, but I still have that speed issue (refering to the potential I see of this "crippled ***" phone...lol). I'm trying to just make a rom with the stock HTC TouchFLO Interface (Not VZW's), no added apps (I'll be fine with my cabs) and a buttload of stock crap that I'll never use like the extra themes, JetPrint something, VZApp zone, and so forth. Any help (if a thread for this isn't available) ?

Re: Is it pretty easy to cook a rom for VZW?

You may want to give Scotts V3.0 a shot, fastest ROM by far.. Hes as close to stock as you can get and most anything he puts in extra you can remove from the remove programs settings option. His pagepool updater lets you choose how fast you want the device to go, but the faster you go the more RAM you sacrifice. I have my pagepool set at 10, I think its a perfect balance of speed and memory. A lot set theirs at 12 which is awesome speed and pretty much how much memory came stock before all the tweaks. I run with 47-52MB free on boot with a 10 pagepool and its fast enough that I dont lag. A 12 will keep you hauling and should have you arund 41-45MB free.

It's quite easy to cook your own ROM for Verizon via the PPCGeeks Kitchen.

Is the PPCGeeks kitchen really ready for primetime on this device? Are a lot of people using it for VZW? What is the comparison to ERice's kitchen. I the kitchen for my Apache, but last time I tried it for this device I had some issues.

Not sure what "a lot" would mean, but I am using it currently on Verizon without issues,

Erice's kitchen uses the older Bepe Kitchen, which offers fewer customization options. For instance the PPCGeeks kitchen:
  • Has PagePool customization built in.
  • Has OEMizer built in for common personal customizations.
  • Has live updates to keep the kitchen up to date.
  • Has more built in OEMs
  • Enables background and startup image customization.

I also recently transitioned from Apache. Not sure what "issues" you had there, but I had found the PPCGeeks kitchen to work just fine on my former Apache.

Re: Is it pretty easy to cook a rom for VZW?

Thanks! I'll give it another shot. It was the bomb on my Apache. I meant to say that I had issues last time I tried it for my TP but I didn't bother to try to get it sorted out. I didn't by any means mean any disrespect to the awesome kitchen staff, I just didn't get the impression from reading a lot of threads that a lot of VZW users were using the kitchen.
