Most Optimized Roms?

New to the forums/raphael/roms. I've successfully put the bootloader and another rom on my raphael (sprint), Now I'm looking for a Rom that doesn't have a lot of bloat and is optimized for speed, (I had the sprint default rom at 28% mem usage on bootup).

Re: Most Optimized Roms?

Best thing to do is just try a few of the ROMs for a day or two to see which one you really like the most...

The ROMs that you may want to start with are JD's 3.x or Juggalos... Those have been my two favorites so far...

Re: Most Optimized Roms?

I would recommend JDs ROMs as well. Out of all of the ROMs available here, I find his stipped down the most.

Re: Most Optimized Roms?

I also forgot to mention Juicy's ROM... He just got a Touch Pro (very good Diamond ROMs), so I am watching his ROM as he develops it a little more.

Re: Most Optimized Roms?

You'll find more than anything that it will be a personal preference type response you'll get. We don't have any quantifiable statistics really to say ultimately which one is "optimized" more than another. It really depends on what you mean by optimized, too. Some are more vanilla type clean roms, some include lots of software, and some are just plain FAST.

I've tried nearly all of them at one point in time or another. Right now, I've got Dream's 0.5 rom on mine, and getting ready to flash 0.6 onto it in a few minutes. In my opinion, his is the fastest out there. It's ultra responsive, s2u2 works better than any other rom I've tried, as does tf3d and opera mini. He's got a really nice custom taskbar with good looking icons.

Again, it's a personal preference type of thing. I'd suggest the following:

1. Get yourself a bigger microSD if you haven't gotten one already

2. Use the included 1GB microSD to use as your "flashing SD"

3. Fill it up with several choices from the precooked ROMs, like Dream's, Juicy's,JD's, Yay4Jugg's,Juggalo X's, Meridian's, Conflipper's, etc.

4. Learn how to flash through the SD method (all other methods are obsolete at this point IMHO)

5. Become a flashing w hore

6. repeat many times per week, or build up to it, but you'll eventually get there.

That way, you'll find the one that is optimized for YOU.

Have fun!

Good question but it's sort of like asking what vehicle I should buy?

Much of it depends on your personal preference.
Some people like stripped down to the bare minimum for optimal speed
Some love to load it up with all the latest and greatest apps.

Some like TP3D... some hate it.
Some like some of the Sprint software (WorldCard, MP3 trimmer, TV, Nav..)... some hate it.

Just figure out what you like (hint - start with the TP essentials thread) and then find the ROM that fits closest to that. Or just build your own ROM if you have to know how.

well it depends on the pagepool your are using... i think most custom roms are 32mn pp but the stock sprint is like 6mb, there's a chunk of extra ram for ya... IMO the 32mb pagepool crushes having that extra ram that you won't really use all at once, unless you are a gamer, which then you really wouldn't like a winmo phone

I was using the default sprint rom. I just did every tweak I seen possible and disabled a lot of stuff. I also wasn't using TF3D. I was using Homescreen. Also I Removed HTC's Volume Control and Phone Dialer, Those two removals seemed to make a difference for me.

I think I'd like the TF3D Interface better if it wasn't so slow. It seems to effect other application appearing and dissappearing.
