First disconnect phone from PC. Remove ALL unwanted partnerships. Now go into device and click Start > Settings > System > About > Device ID Tab. Enter correct Device Name (same as desired Activesync partnership on PC). Reconnect phone and activesync should be good to go.

thanks for the help, but my main difficulty is that their are no check boxes when i go to set up exchange thru activesync, and due to that, i can't sync anything...
