I think I might have posted this before, if so forgive me, but for you Sprint users, I did lick that Telenav "your account has expired" message several months ago:

Basically since Sprint Navigation IS Telenav (just a slightly older version), long story short: install Sprint Navigation then install the latest version of Telenav from its website. Yeah it's redundant. Yeah, it's a stupid hack. But there's still some things Telenav does better than Bing Navigation and there's something Bing Navigation does better than Telenav. You still need a data connection for both to work well, though.

TomTom Navigator, however, does not require a data connection, but you can't use mapshare to update it, so your map can get out of date fairly quickly (and the New Zealand voice is very easy to understand).

Ok

Back to wireless.

I noticed that when I enabled wireless, I wasn't getting any connection whatsoever (apart fro AP association) unless I manually specify DNS. Anyone else have this problem?

Using Total Commander, still can't connect to local shares anyway. The DNS issue leads me to speculate it could be a further WINS / NetBIOS resolution issue for the share name (e.g. \\192.168.2.10\share_name ), but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense because WINS only supposed to be applicable for the server names not the shares. Besides, my NAS is statically assigned and registered in my DNS forwarder. . .

So here's the question: Does Windows Mobile Professional have WINS / NetBIOS protocolls? If so, can they be enabled/disabled?

It's not important enough for me to pay for Resco only to find THAT doesn't work either.

Sigh.

Got it.

Firstly, Windows Mobile doesn't support IP addresses, only UNC / NetBIOS names.

Secondly: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\SecurityProviders\NTLM\LmC ompatibilityLevelClient set to 0. Documentation here

1 should work, but I haven't tried as my WLAN is finicky. I really need one of those nice Atheros 5006 card and re do my antennas.

Is there a cab to easily install Sense 2.5 on top of this rom?

I guess we've been busy. I'm sure it might be possible, but the process is antithetical to the purpose of swinnrom. Therefore, I know of no cab. Sorry I'm not much help.

swinnrom 100821 sanity check requested.

Despite my earlier triumph, wireless stopped working completely. I re-flashed / update to 1008211 thinking maybe I changed a reg entry I shouldn't have. . .

No joy.

Could someone who's wireless does work verify his settings and or post any modifications he had to do from the installation defaults to get it working?

Changes I made:
I said my network adapter connects to "The Internet"
I entered the address of the DNS forwarder in my router as the Primary DNS.
And 8.8.8.8 as the secondary

Is the wireless even connecting to your router?

Oh. Yes. Indeed it is connecting and associating. This was working fine on the previous ROM (as previously reported). If I think about it it was working until I installed your data disconnect cab? That doesn't make sense. Does it?

Anyway, I reflashed.

Had a buddy come by late night and try his phone's wireless connection. Didn't quite work so well. When it did connect to web pages, it was slow then stopped working completely According to his device (HTC G2) signal good but a tracert died at the gateway.

What bugs me is every computer in the house that use wireless (3-- two XP pro and one Win 7 64) connect and browse no problem, so likewise I assume it's a problem with the phone.

In summary

Things I've tried
  • Reflash router
  • Reflash phone
  • HTC G2

Things to do
  • ping my firewall dstro's mailing list (monowall)
  • take my phone to other APs.
  • is there a way under windows phone / mobile 6.5.5 to constrain TX/RX rates of the wireless adapter?

With WP7 basically out and such, I feel I'm fighting a loosing battle.

Normally once you flash the ROM, you do not need to do anything to the wireless (other than setting the ssid and key). If you don't specify DNS servers then it gets the DNS information from DHCP. Also the data disconnect cab just sets a couple entries in the registry. Since you reflashed, the registry was wiped out and is back at the default.

I would try connecting to another network to see if that works. It might just be that the wireless chip on the phone is dying.

I considered that, too. . :(
