Re: [ROM][WWE][05/17/10] swinnROM 6.5.5 23569/21903 [KITCHEN][CLEAN]

I absolutely love this ROM! It's light, fast, and boots in a third of the time as anything else, but.....

The camera is absolutely useless for me. When in camera mode, just about any action...taking a picture, interacting with the UI, etc...causes the screen to flash momentarily back to the Home screen. Half the time it won't take a photo at all...and it seems to record videos, but when I play them back I get no picture, the audio is nothing but static, and the file plays waaaay too fast. The camera/camcorder works perfectly under every other ROM I've used.

Is anyone else having this problem? :banghead:

Wow, I've never had that many issues with the camera. Are you using 21903 or 23569? You are playing videos back using the built-in pictures & videos? What else is installed on the phone?

23569 Sprint

I'm playing them back from within the camera, but it is actually popping them into Windows Media Player, which is another odd thing.

As for other stuff installed...I've tried it at various stages. Had the same problem with 100503.23566, too (missed taking photos of my brother's graduation from college because of it too, but that's my own darn fault for relying on a phone for such an event, lol).

I'm reflashing right now and will try playing with it with nothing installed or customized. I'll update this post in a bit.

Edit: Okay, it seems to be working normally right now, although if I attempt to delete an image or video I just took, it locks the camera up and it will no longer respond to taps on the screen (meaning that the only way to get out is to end task on the thing). I'm going to try installing all my stuff one CAB at a time and test the camera in between each install. Maybe I'll be able to narrow down the culprit.

I'm gonna play around with stuff here too. Let me know if you find that an app is causing issues. One more thing, do you have a storage card in the phone?

Storage card: yes

Its interesting...the more I play with this the more I think my center button (enter/ok...whatever) might be malfunctioning, at least in camera mode. It's trying to autofocus when I'm nowhere near the button.

This might be a hardware issue.

I think I found the culprit...or at least part of it. Installed Arcsoft MMS 5.2.12.62 and now I'm getting the flashing back and forth between screens. In fact, I started recording video and all I saw was the home screen the entire time it was recording except for a little square in the center. When it was done, I was able to watch the video (it opened in media player), then when I went back to the camera the screen was totally black, with just the camera UI...then it locked up and I had to end task on the camera to exit.

I can't reproduce this at all. Has anyone else experienced this?

Flashed to the latest 6.5.5 rom but the SYM key still doesn't work.

Works fine for me. Type the base character then press SYM. For example, for a backslash, type a forward slash then press SYM. Press it multiple times for the other characters associated.

Ah, ok. I was expecting the full screen of characters to pop up. You're right, it works as you described.

Keep up the good work!

Well I'm back to having everything installed that I did before and it's working fine. Don't know what the deal is...we'll see if it stays that way.

#1 reason why computers are female: you've been doing it the same way for years, and suddenly it's wrong. :evil4:
