SKI-ROM

CE OS 5.2.23542 Build 23542.5.5.0

Featuring MaxDusk themed Sense 2.5 ROM's as well as Standard Sense2.5 ROM's and Sense2.1 ROM's

My purpose in building these ROMs was to have as much work "out of the box" (OTB) as possible. If you are familiar with the Picturemail and Arcsoft issues with other ROM’s you should be pleasantly surprised as those steps won’t be needed with my ROM.
I test A LOT, so if there are issues I will try to fix and update. But, I won't throw my testing out to you till the fix works!
Thanks to Calkulin for the kitchen base!
Thanks to Winmonewbie and Rootlinux for testing. Also, anyone who had a hand in putting together the great software packages!

Build 011010 and greater!

Autorun customization differences
In the ROM build 011010 and greater I have tried to save you some space when it comes to the size of the ROM. To do so, I install Google Maps and Opera 10 during Autorun. To accomplish this I must unhide the autorun screen and allow you to answer some questions on Google maps and Opera install. It is just as though you were installing them as Cabs. Here are the correct answers for the questions you will be presented with.
Q - Do you want to set Opera 10 as Default Web Browser?
A - No
Q - Do you want to launch Opera 10 now?
A - No
Google maps:
Q - Do you accept the disclaimers?
A - Yes
Hit OK
Click the "X" to exit Google Maps

Now Autorun will continue and reset your device.

Switching Internet Browsers
We now have cabs within in the Start/Internet folder that will allow us to switch the default browser at will between Opera Mobile 9.7 (set as Default) and Opera Mobile 10.
Just go to Start/Internet and select the cab you want; Set Opera 10 as Default or Set Opera 9.7 as Default. Install to Device. That's it!
To switch back simply install the other cab.
If the mood suits you, you can continue to switch back and forth by just running the cab and installing it again.
Note: In the Sense 2.1 ROM you will be switching between Opera 9.5 and Opera 10. Same situation and procedure. Opera 9.5 should be default after flash. This will enable Push Internet!

To enable Visual Bookmarks in MaxDusk and Standard ROMs:

NOTE: ALL INTERNET TAB BOOKMARKS COME FROM INTERNET EXPLORER!

Opera Mobile 9.7 MUST be set as the Default Browser, which it should from flash unless you answer "Yes" to the Opera 10 install during UC.
First open IE and set the bookmark there.
Then go to the Internet Tab and Click "Add"
A list of the IE Favorites will come up, select the Bookmark you want displayed in the Internet Tab.
Initially you will see a default icon in the Tab you just set, this will change to a Visual Bookmark after you launch it for the first time with OM 9.7.
Once loaded, you can close Opera and you will see your new Visual Bookmark.
Some sites may take longer to change over than others, in testing Google and m.facebook.com changed instantly, m.bing.com had a small delay.
Once set with 9.7 you can switch to Opera Mobile 10 and they will work!

Homescreen Alignment:
If you see an alignment issue with your MaxManila Alert icons and/or Quicklinks, try setting the resolution to W within the MaxManila settings, this should take care of it.
This is only if you are using the Alert Icons and have an issue.

All Builds

Footprints Instructions:
After you add a new footprint go to the album and select the picture. Tap the screen and then tap on the VERY bottom of the popup menu on the left. There is a hidden icon on below the screen which is actually selectable. On the subsequent menu tap "Set as Footprint". If anyone can figure out how to fix that menu in Album 3.2 lemme know and I'll be glad to cook it in. Tried every way from Sunday and it won't fix. I think it is in the exe.

Max Manila instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...68&postcount=5

SKIROM_031310 HOTFIX:
Removes the extra "Clear Storage" Icon in the system menu.

This ROM is one of the best OTB ROM's I have experienced. I'm hooked.
It just works.
Plain and simple.
Looks friggin killer to boot!
ahuskins has done an incredible job with it and I know first hand he has put in countless hours at cooking and tweaking. I've been testing it for weeks and this is the most solid, gorgeous, fast version to date. You will not be dissapointed.
Thank you Bro!
This ROM ROCKS!! :headbang:

Thanks again for the testing!

I can do 2.1 but then it would be just like all the other 2.1's out there. But never say never.

Loaded it on to a Bell Touch Pro. It took FOREVER to start up. Looks sleek. Gonna test it out.
EDIT: Looks like it was just that first boot that took forever. In the OS in under 1 minute on 2nd boot. The shift, function and symbol keys are not working on the keyboard...

ahuskins is aware of the keyboard issue. He has a possible fix, may cook it into the next update. In the meantime run this cab:
Attachment 53018

It will give you a "plain" SIP but the hard keyboard will function properly.

After that if you want to try to match the SIP to the theme, try Finger Keyboard (under Tools) that is cooked in. It has a Black/Grey skin to match the theme.

Sorry, SIP is another way to say the onscreen or soft keyboard.

Soft Input Panel :)

Makes sense. I thought that's what you meant. So will this make the hard keyboard function correctly? I don't really require the function key if symbol works. Shift and symbol are the main 2.

Yes installing that cab will allow the hard keys to function-sorry forgot the reason on that one.

Yea. It looks like everything is working again. Not really worried about the SIP matching the theme. I'm going back to an iPhone ASAP so I'm just fuxing around with these windows mobile devices. Thanks for the fix.

The only other problem I see is the fact that 4 icons over lap the bottom of the UI on the home tab.

Well despite you fouling the thread with the Fruit Phone reference I'll explain anyway :)
Those are swipeable off the screen. They are part of the Max mod which is highly customizable, spend some time playing around with the all the possible configuraitons.
For example with those 4 icons present, if you tap the top of the screen in the center the screen will go into Fullscreen Mode and the slider will drop out of view except for a small icon to bring it back up. That is just one of many options.

Great Job Ahun

Three choices on the settings page for Max Manila "P", "B" and "D".
P - Panoramic, but only on the home screen.
B - Background on all tabs
D - Default wallpaper

Set the B via Weather wallpaper.
If you set panoramic background the Max background change button has no effect.

Just throwing some thoughts out here. I would expect you to start to get a big following. Your ROM appears to be pretty solid, which is probably the result of the amount of Q/A that you do. Is is also very aesthetically pleasing.
Just some of the things that I noticed, but the more I look the more it appears that you have left no stone unturned.
  • Folders - As many ROMS do
  • Wait Cursor - Like a Green fill up Bar
  • The Task Icon match the theme
  • E-mail Icons
  • Built-in Sashimi support
  • Themed media player
  • QuickMenu for Task management on COM3 + builds

Have you ever looked at this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=503060
What you have in there from a Sashimi option is pretty good, but is pretty high on the complexity level. Not that it matters. But the XDA_UC may be easier.

Versioning
If you look at Juicy's threads, he also did a pre-released of the inventory of the new ROM.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=80683

Right now he has a section called "In Development".
For example, you could list out updates.
  • Office 2010 Beta
  • Skyfire 1.5
  • Font - Candara
  • Swype

I have ran most of the ROMs in this forum, I still like the Energy ROMs because of customizations. I now have been really, really impressed with your ROM! Keep out the good work!

Good idea about "In Development" Along those lines:

SKI_ROM v4.0 Build 12xx09
[+] Skyfire 1.5
[+] Office 2010 Beta
[+] Swype (only as an additional SIP option)

Great, IMO. Obviously it will depend on usage but I use it for calls, sms, email (4 accounts), browsing, and occasional GPS and I would consider battery life to be excellent. You may agree, you may not. As with any ROM, run it for a few days to get a true picture of battery life.

Sorry, not directly related to this ROM but someone could help me... I never used Sashimi. I always set everything manually after each flash. I would like to learn it to use it as much as possible to simplify each flash. Do you have a link to a great tutorial, visual if possible. I found 2 or 3 web sites but they are all very deep in technical things so it is very difficult for a newbie. I would like a tutorial/site that shows real life examples.

If some of you know good links, I would greatly appreciate.

Thanks.
