WIFI PROBLEMS PLEASE FLASH TIAMAT OR SAVAGED ZENS LATEST KERNEL, AND MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD THE EVO KERNEL ;)
Still working on finishg touches for 1.0. BTW, 1.0 will probably have tiamat sbc kernel stock. so if you dont like sbc or are affraid of it (which you shouldnt be, take it from me, its perfectly safe) you may want to download the non sbc kernel of your choice. i am hoping i dont have to push 1.0 back, doing everything i can to release on time.

flashing the latest kernel doesn't fix the problem, and shutting off gps doesn't either. Deleting the gallery fixes it. Maybe the gallery is trying to assign gps values to pictures or look them up, like where you took them or whatever. Other than that I can't think of anything the gallery might be doing related to the gps. Does it even have gps permissions? And the mediaserver is the current process that is holding 95 or more of my and many others cpu percentage.

not sure WHERE to start looking...I'm quite sure that the camera does geo-caching...soooo...try finding that setting and turning it off. that MIGHT be the link between GPS and gallery.

this might be a dumb question...was cache and dalvik wiped before the update?? also could a clean install fix the problem??

Check your clock settings... Quad isn't intensive enough to use the CPU fully so when you run it, it is actually scoring underclocked. I ran a test against my friends DroidX and his scored higher than mine yet my tests finished a good 5+ probably closer 10 secs faster than his...

go figure...

Just retested to see what it would give me...

I got 1431 with wifi on and no apps killed. I have hit as high as 1530ish...

Btw that score is with my clock at 1228mhz.

Test took 46.7 seconds in total.

It is also why I don't trust quadrant much. I just ran it against a youtube droid x test where it was overclocked to 1.3. My test finished a full 9.6 seconds faster yet they scored 1640 and on my last test I got 1248. I will say the graphics test is smoother overall on the droid x but heck, I'd take my 10sec faster any day.

So getting rid of the gallery worked for you to? I havent had any problems since...I pulled my phone off the charger at 1730hrs yesterday and I still have 67% at 0715hrs with moderate use....I never had great battery life like this. Im using Savaged zen1.1.0 BFS

I know for myself I did literally 8 or so clean wipes. I used Cailkins Format All Zip and did the standard full wipe in recovery.

Re: [4-18-11][ROM] gingerbread-evo-deck [pre5][1.0]

Ok I was able to FINALLY play with my wifes Evo and hers is a newer hardware version while mine is an original release....hers doesnt have the CPU draw like mine did. CPU seems to have about the same draw on hers using Tiamat 3.3.7sbc compared to mine using Zen. I did notice thought that system panel shows her gallery using 10.2 on memory. So my question would be everyone that had cpu problems what was your setup?

You can trick you CPU into not underclocking during Quad by raising the minimum speed to the same as the max. Making the min/max 998 gets me higher scores than overclocking to 1192.

Re: [4-18-11][ROM] gingerbread-evo-deck [pre5][1.0]

I'm on Pre5

On the Quadrant scores. I placed SetCPU to Performance(it maximizes) and overclocked to 1190 and I was getting scores 1400+ no problems. (I do usually have it at the smartass setting however)
I did the same as Deck and can attest that the steps 1-2-3 work.
Meaning:
1 - Flash the ROM
2 - Flash Gapps
3 - Flash Tiamat (SBC)...

I haven't looked back since, because everything has been quick, smooth, and responsive. WiFi works, GPS works, 4G works, 3G works, and so forth and so on.
I'm a power hog and use many apps and have never had my battery remain at 100% after more than 5 minutes when taking it off the ac/dc. It does now. I have used SZ predominately and never dove into SBC (was cautious, but have heard more good than bad) and I now love it.

I have not had any issues with gallery. I almost wish I did, so I could remove it and save more power ;)

Looking forward to the Final, but the way mine is running currently is pretty flawless.

Re: [4-18-11][ROM] gingerbread-evo-deck [pre5][1.0]

Ok...noob question about the Tiamat kernel...what does SBC stand for...what is it...and how is the SBC kernel (better<?>) than the non SBC version?

I'm currently running the non-SBC version...1st gen hardware...pre5...with no major issues at all.
