Re: [4-18-11][ROM] gingerbread-evo-deck [pre4][1.0]

I'm still stuck at about 100% CPU usage...I rebooted and still the same...I'm on pre4 and just updated today from a pre1 (Had it as a nandroid backup)...Don't know what's going on...I use it for like 2 minutes and the phone gets insanely hot...Don't know if this is me only :/

For some reason CM's latest kernel breaks phone proximity sensors.
Deck,

I am on pre4 and I am still have issues with this. I noticed the stock kernel on this ROM is still a cyanogenmod.... is this the correct kernel that fixes the proximity sensor.

by the way... Great ROM...

thanks... tannerj

Hey Deck, I know this is just a "pre 1.0" release, but I thought I'd test it. Videos still come out as .m4v and not .mp4 - I wanted to confirm if I did something wrong, or if this still isn't fixed yet. Thanks in advance. I'm on the pre 1.0 v1

has not been added yet, sorry.

yes that is correct, i did not want to add the kernel in yet before some testing, tho at this point, i am probably advising to flashing it for the time being if you are on anything above pre2.

-deck

EDIT: spoke to soon, as i began to monitor my cpu, i am now pegging. i have to look into this. something is wrong.

make sure you are downloading from under the EVO links and not any of the others. make sure the file name is "Tiamat_Evo-v3.3.7.zip" and not something else like "Tiamat_Inc-v3.3.7.zip" This was my mistake this morning. DOH!!

I went ahead and flashed up to the tiamat kernel to see if that fixed it. I thought you stated the pre4 had the fix for sensor problem....

thanks...tannerj

probably a dumb question, but do i have to wipe the caches again before flashing the kernel? i wiped those caches before loading the rom.

edit: I went back and reloaded the pre4 and it was fine, then i wiped the caches and reflashed the kernel and same thing, stuck on splash screen. I wonder if it's something with 3.3.7? I'll try the 3.3.5 kernel and see what happens

re-edit: sorry for another edit, but i just flashed tiamat 3.3.5 non sbc and its working. since, i have no idea what goes on in the background with the rom or kernel, i'll leave that up to the experts, but this is what i can report back. I will try 3.3.6 non sbc and see what happens.

You may need to just stick with 3.3.5 or switch to the SBC version. I'm on 3.3.7 SBC and it's running great.

Deck FYI,

I flashed pre-3 and my CPU sat at 100%. Rolled back to 2 and all was fine.
flashed pre-4 and my CPU sat at 100%. Based on what I read here today, I regressed back to earlier gApps and CPU at 7%.

I want to give a quick battery review.
Flashed Pre-3 last night and Savage-Zen 1.1.0 CFS Kernal. Let it fully charge over night.

It has been 11h 8min off charger and I have 27% battery left.

Cell Standby 27%
Phone idle 25%
Maps 23% (35 min GPS, not counting screen on looking at map)
Android System 17%
Display 6%
Voice Calls 5% (12 min --14 calls)

I set up my facebook, gmail, email, pulse and let them all sync. Among setting up my homescreens. and 10 Texts so far.

I believe that to be pretty decent. Is this in line with everyone else's experiences?

That is very good for the battery that comes with the phone.

VERY good.

On to what I wanted to post about, WTF is my VM doing? It locks at 100%cpu, and I attached a debugger to it and this is what it reads out.

04/18/2011 18:01:50 [INFORMATION] ActivityManager(613) Displayed com.eolwral.osmonitor/.OSMonitor: +4s378ms
04/18/2011 18:01:51 [DEBUG] dalvikvm(613) GC_CONCURRENT freed 1349K, 42% free 6458K/10951K, external 1557K/2040K, paused 4ms+6ms
04/18/2011 18:01:52 [DEBUG] dalvikvm(613) GC_CONCURRENT freed 1348K, 42% free 6449K/10951K, external 1528K/2040K, paused 3ms+7ms
04/18/2011 18:01:54 [DEBUG] dalvikvm(613) GC_CONCURRENT freed 1330K, 42% free 6448K/10951K, external 1528K/2040K, paused 4ms+6ms

It even does this after a reboot. CPU locks at 100 as long as nothing else is using it, it doesn't give up the cpu percentage easily though, makes everything else run terrible. I dunno what is going on, I don't know what GC_CONCURRENT is. I know what the dalvikvm is :) lol.

What do you guys think is going on? Is this the sensor problem? I am using savaged zen kernel, so It shouldn't be right?

That kind of usage is similar to mine. I'm on Tiamat kernel, used 3.3.4, just upgraded to 3.3.7 today.
