Re: [5-25-11][ROM] gingerbread-evo-deck [1.0][2.3.3 Stable][1.2o][2.3.4 Beta]

Hi - Android newbie here (recent convert from the iphone  cult). Installed this ROM a couple of days ago - many thanks! Significant improvement on what was preloaded on the Evo.
So here are some newbie questions: Can I flash a different kernel while keeping deck's 1.0 ROM? How do I do it? What I really want is to improve battery life and am wondering if there is some kernel that can do it better. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Also, how do I underclock? (I am assuming that will make the battery life better at the expense of performance). And how do I monitor fps and clock speed?

Thanks.

Yeh you can, go get what ever kernel you want and make sure its ASOP compatable and then put on SD and do it just like u flashed ur phone. I just put a new kerel on mine and am using TIAMAT 4.03 and have noticed a big differance right off the bat. First of all GPS is spot on. Battery seems better but will know more. Then you can also go to the market and get an app that allows you to overclock and change things also. You can try this mod i have read about xda-developers
Hope that helps

Thanks for the info. I will try installing the new kernel today. Other than TIAMAT 4.03, has anyone else tried any kernels that have brought significant improvements to battery life? I can try and test out a few.

I had this rom (1.2m) installed for about a month without any problem, since yesterday i cannot connect to 3G. Im not sure if it had anything to do with the latest radio, prl...ect. but according to the XDA link I have the latest installed. I've pulled the battery several times and put it in and out of airplane mode several times. All other phones in my house connect to 3G with no problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated....Thanks
