Re: [3-18-11][ROM] gingerbread-evo-deck [rc3][STABLE]

sorry for the slow reply. savaged-zen kernels work fine with this rom (as far as i know, i ran 0.2.1 for 2 days to test) and everything was fine. as in GTalk, ill look into this issue as we speak. 10 camera shots and glitches, im gonna have to take a look into that as well. i dont think i ever snapped 10 in a row, so i will today! as in submitting my changes to cm, i have my own github, its just not live yet. all in time :) if i submit anythign to them, i want it to be perfect :) Hope i covered most the questions. rc4 is just around the corner. mainly just small and cosmetic fixes. MMS should be fixed 100%. and ill make sure talk gets fixed as well.

One other thing, as for any problems with 4g, i live about a mile away from wimax service, so its not that easy for me to test. when i do get out i test as much as possible. so i will continue to try and strengthen the wimax capabilities on our phone :D

First off - Deck, the rc3 rom is awesome. No bugs so far for me. Loving the gingerbread and battery life.

I have a question about the GPS issue. When I flashed Deck's Gingerbread rc3 I also flashed the gapps in the OP - just as was listed, both flashed from Recovery before rebooting. Now, after reading the post again, maybe I shouldn't have done this since my GPS was working fine in the ROM I was coming from (MikFroyo 4.5). Anyway, when I flashed Deck's Gingerbread rc3 my GPS would not lock - could not get accuracy within more than 700 meters in google maps. I followed the directions on the OP - flashed back to the MikFroyo (which is sense-based) and followed the steps to a T but noticed the GPS lock issue wasn't fixed. Thought maybe you have to flash to gingerbread before it would be resolved but after flashing Deck's Gingerbread rc3 the issue still wasn't resolved.

When I first rooted my phone I made a nandoid backup that I restored (to see if that would resolve the GPS issue) but that didn't work either.

So my questions are really:

1. How can I get back to a working GPS?
2. Once I do, how do I carry that forward to Deck's (or other Gingerbread, since I think it is an incompatibility with Froyo and Gingerbread GPS's) gingerbread rom?

Thanks for any help or insight you guys can provide.

the piece that its usually missed with the gps fix is to make sure you get a lock after the reboot, and leave gps enabled while you flash/nandroid back to gingerbread...

Great Rom, except I still have the GPS and Voicemail issues. I did exactly as you said in your 1st post but neither worked, any suggestions? I really would love to use this Rom but need GPS and Voicemail. Thanks in advance.

Re: [3-18-11][ROM] gingerbread-evo-deck [rc3][STABLE]

I tried everything I could think of (factory reset, flashing other Sense-based ROMs, updating the MSL, I even called Sprint to see if they could do something) but nothing seems to work for the GPS fix. Still can't get a GPS lock.

What is in the gapps.apk in the OP? Is there some way to get a factory sprint GPS apk, flash that to establish the connection between the software and hardware and then flash the gingerbread ROM over that? I don't have a good understanding of all the components in a ROM and how, specifically, this gapps.apk impacts roms and gps locking so its hard for me to troubleshoot.

I have the same issues after I did the GPS fix. The issue isn't the lock, rather when you are using maps, bing, etc it disengages after the lock. I found this to be an issue with all the different GB roms I have used including CM7.

I currently use an app called GpsFix (freeware) which i downloaded from the market. you can set the lock up to the timeout up to 15 mins. GPS on constant lock will drain battery but at least it works.
