Anyone have any issues switching from Clockwork Recovery to RA Recovery..?? I started getting these random FC errors in ChompSMS, Homerun Battle, ect... First I'll try the Fix Permissions thing in Rom Manager but if that doesn't work I'm gonna try to get the RA recovery goin because Clockwork's Recovery doesn't let me wipe Dalvik Cache...

I flashed RA recovery through ROM manager, booted into it, nand backup'd, wiped data, cache, an dalvik... installed rom, kernel, and theme, reboot phone now I'm stuck on that nexus type bootsplash for about 5 minutes..??

Well I went back and performed a Nand Restore to my old setup... Wiped everything 2x, installed just the base rom, it booted fine... Installed CFS#7 & Carbon Theme, and than it worked... Although I'm gonna switch to that BFS#8 Kernel because this CFS7 is fast as shit but battery life doesn't seem to be as good as BFS8's was...

so far it's been my experience that no kernel truly helps with battery life. the problem is the poor design of the evo. plain and simple.

if you're a user that simply uses it as a phone, then yeah, you'll get battery life out the wazoo. otherwise, forget about all the kernels and cpu hacks. nothing is gonna work. you'll be tethered to a power supply all day and nite.

My battery life is complete garbage. I was down to 29% after only 4hrs of being disconnected.

I'm not sure what happened but I installed everything per instructions the other day and now streaming audio isn't working right. I listen to nj101.5 using Dolphin and also yourmuze.fm and the streaming audio sounds like it's in slow motion. I thought maybe it was flash so I tried to uninstall it and it will not uninstall. Help?

I was having a bunch of lag and FC's when I was on Cauklin's rom. And I was switching from Clockwork to RA Recovery as well.

But I had the same boot issue you had too where it is stuck in boot loop for like 5 mins. Had to do the same procedure as you.

I dnt think bluetooth is working.
Im trying to pair my jawbone bluetooth but my evo doesnt find it.

i have also notice battery problems, but it was when i went from stock kernel to #8, in just 2 hrs i went down to 40% with almost no use.

I am on #8. I will attempt stock and see if there is a difference.

Yea every Kernal acts different with every Rom. King's BFS #8 gives great battery life on OMJ's Rom, where as stock Kernal seems best on this Rom.

Yep, I have to agree with you on the kernels. I have tried most of them and especially recently, they completely slow down my phone if that makes sense. Tried kk #9 and my linpack scores afterwards were 2.9 and 2.5??? Stock kernel seems to work well for me. Not sure why I cant get the others to work other than the older netarchy ones. I did wipe Dalvik and cache before flashing the kernels as well.

Battery life is going to suck no matter what PPC, Android, IPhone, BB on the planet if you actually use it. LOL>

I agree too. I can turn off ALL syncing, data, GPS, BT and paperweight my phone for 24-48 hours. Again with zero practical application.

A few phone calls, a decent amount of email and surfing, and the battery goes down quick. The radios seem to drain it.

My solution.. two external chargers and batteries!

I wouldn't say I'm a "Power User" tapping into every ability of the device but I definitely dont need to be plugged in all day.

I, without a doubt, see performance improvements with King's kernels.
Netarchy's are great too but for my use King's seem better.
I L-O-V-E the new unlreased stock kernel-slight hit on performance but battery life is through the roof.
King is working on converting the AOSP kernel over to Sense ROM's. His thread here:

is worth keeping an eye on IMO.

Mike says it great right there and I'll add to his statement.
Kernels will respond differently on different devices on the same ROM.
You just gotta try a lot of them and see how it responds.

Of course, as is already stated, using your device will use up your battery :wink:

thanks Squat. I wish I had better luck on KK's kernels. I flashed zone new rom last night and it is blazing fast with Netarchy latest kernel. I guess I'll keep trying and see what the differences are. Good news on KK work. It's great to have him as well as Virus with his excellent roms!

Not sure if I totally agree with the few of you with kernel beliefs, because I can without a doubt tell a difference in some kernels compared to others... CFS#7 and BFS#8 have been best to me so far...

The only thing Ido like in this rom is the fonts on the keyboard. They are too rounded. The small a looks like a o. Any ideas? Not sure if keyboard can be changed.

The font is throughout the ROM so I dont think changing keyboard will make much difference. The kb may look different but once you type it will prob be the same.

With big fingers I press keys off sometimes it makes a little hard to read. I have bad eyes when letters are small in keyboard and when they are rounded I make too many mistakes. My eyes can not be fixed. I like this rom better than amy other. Reminds me of the way WM was so easy to customizable.

Well it's as I suspected, I installed a new kb and it looks the same. It's something Virus will have to take care of, maybe create a flashable return to stock font zip?
One MAY be floating around somewhere, I'll keep my eyes peeled since yours are so bad ;)
