Yes I know BUT since I am NOT sure exactly how to back up apps and settings and ALL the custom things I have done, I would rater just install over top like I have been UNLESS there is an issue with upgrading FRAMEWORK? I mean on a non-rooted phone this would work .. but what about a rooted phone?

Hey Chris,
I saw over at Android Central someone now has a HDMI app (see link at the bottom) that will support the full usage of the HDMI port, but in order to use it you have to get some kind of kernel update. Do you think that this program will be compatible to use with your ROM/ kernel?

It's compatible but it is not ready for prime time yet. I tried it and for a beta it works ok. I would rate it at a C+ right now. When I installed the apk and the required kernel all seemed good, when I hooked it up to my big screen up pops my phone. Switched screens, played some games, tried out slingbox, and all seemed good. After about 15 minutes it switched from 720p to 480p and then the only thing that would display was the home screens. Any time I opened an app I would just get horizontal lines on the screen. The phone started to get pretty hot and that might have been what caused the failure. After disconnecting my phone from the tv my sound on my phone didn't work so I had to reboot my phone. Later I noticed the required kernel was burning through my battery like the old days. Battery was dropping fast. The next morning after an evening of charging the battery dropped 20% just from reading a few emails. I switched back to my SBC HTC#15 kernel and my battery returned to great performance again.

To wrap things up, yes this will work with Sprint Lovers. No, it is not ready for prime time. Is it worth trying, yes, if you already have the HDMI cable give it a whirl. When Orebmus gets this thing polished up a little and the kernel optimized this will be a great app. Right now, its only a gimmick to show your iphone pals.

Great review! I was wondering though if this would work w/o the use of his kernel... guess not.
For the sound issue the writer says that if you have problems like you did that all you have to do is stop the app. Did you try that before you reported? Also, other than the battery issues was the kernel stable?
Last thing... did you use the software or hardware accelerator?
Thanks again!

I did go back and read his new FAQ that he had posted and I'll have to see if it works with the sound. I had tried to shutdown the app but it wouldn't shut down. I did have the kernel installed which enables the hardware mode. When I get some time later I'll try it without the kernel installed and see how the software only works. He did post that it is a modified HTC#15 kernel which I've always had good luck with so I don't know why I had such a huge battery drain. Could be I'm used to the SBC kernels where I usually won't see it drop below 90% for a couple hours after unplugging it. He states that he will be releasing the source code soon for the kernel so that others can bake it into their kernels. I'm hoping for an SBC version.

So I have found this splash screen that I want to use instead of the generic white background with the EVO 4G in black. The problem I have is that the name of the file is the same as the ROM I use from you. How do you change the initial splash screen? Is this part of the boot animation? Can you provide a little direction?

BTW I absolutely LOVE your ROM. It works amazingly well and gives me everything I need. Any chance you might be cooking up something for the EPIC?

OK so I just tried this.. It was stuck at the HTC EVO4G logo.. then I saw the HTC QUIETLY BRILLIANT LOGO and now its stuck on that. Should this take a while to boot after a flash over top the first time?

I'm also running the auto-bump kernel and not the kernel that comes with the rom ..

EDIT: got it to boot up but its now having an issue with SWYPE and SENSE. it keeps saying SWYPE CRASHED (I had the beta version installed) and also SENSE keeps saying LOADING my CALENDAR WIDGET and then CRASHES.. any ideas??

The only way to change the boot up splash screen is through the bootloader. That means the file has to be named PC36IMG.zip for the bootloader to install it. Also, this file must be put in the root directory of your sd card. Then boot into the bootloader and wait for it to find the file and ask if you want to update.

Isn't that going to interfere with the PC36IMG that already exists as the ROM file? If I put it on the root of my SD card then it asks if I want to overwrite it. That makes no sense.
