[DISCONTINUED] OMJ's HTC Sense Kitchen v2.1 | WM 6.x / WM 6.5.x | 21895 / 235xx

OK, here is my custom HTC Sense kitchen. First things first. This kitchen began as a Calkulin kitchen, so thank you Calkulin for the nice base!

Keep in mind, this kitchen is setup for OMJ roms, it is completely customized to my likes. When you load a rom there are several saved templates which are saved from my current ROM's.

Here are the included ROM templates:

omj_sense_2.1_21895.erv
omj_sense_2.1_23544.erv

omj_sense_2.5_2012_21895.erv
omj_sense_2.5_2012_23541.erv
omj_sense_2.5_2012_23541_GTX.erv
omj_sense_2.5_2012_23544.erv
omj_sense_2.5_2012_23557.erv
omj_sense_2.5_2012_23557_Cookie.erv

I have the Manila 2.5 packages setup alittle differently. It is setup in that fashion specifically to make it easier to update those packages.

have fun...

Thought I'd take a minute to check into the new kitchen thread. As you know, Ken ... I am a 6.1 guy. I spent a couple of hours building roms this morning to familiarize myself and get all the programs to my liking. My experience has been really cool ... kitchen is laid out well, and I absolutely love the quickness and stability of 21055 with the updated look of manila 2.5. I'm still working through everything, but so far, the only item that is bugging me a bit, is the slow weather animation. I would just as soon remove the animation, if that is possible, without breaking something. Ideas?

Like I said in the original thread, this whole project is a "home run" ... my Diamond has a new look and is running great. This really takes the edge off in waiting for Sprint to drop the HD2. Thanks again, Bud ... for the long hours, and patiently guiding all of us. Great people here on the Diamond forum.

Whoo, yay, an OMJ Kitchen. Sense is cool but I can't wait until it gets more stable than it is right now.

Someone on XDA posted a 'fix' for the slow sunny animation. I'm pretty sure it's just the sunny animation from an older 'sense' version (ala 1918 or something) that seemed to be quicker on our devices. I've attached it to this post. You can either overwrite your file in /windows or the file in the kitchen (make sure to backup if you do that or just add it to an EXT that gets processed after manila 2.5 - for example zzTweaks directory). You may also want to try the TopazVideo drivers and/or HTCSDKVTCodec_QVP_1_5_34627_0. I do not notice any slow animations with them (just the sunny one). I am not sure if those 2 packages are already in OMJ's kitchen. They also fix the default gray background looking bad.

Is the pre-loaded omj.sense.21870 all the exact selections as your v1.4 rom?

Vancer ... I know this probably won't be much help, but I cooked several 6.1 roms this morning, all with Sprint selected as the carrier, and everything booted correctly.

Any idea where to go to fix the SMS / MyLocation?

I know when I was building 2.5, it was typically the message client for SMS not working, but never figured out the MyLocation.

WHEW!! That was a huge PITA due to my compter apparently and NOT OMJ's Kitchen (of course), but I finally got a bad A$$ rom put together!!!

BIG THANKS to you OMJ!!!

Here is an fyi though, the omj.sense.21870.erv does not have the NetCF set to true in the SYS section. (i re-extracted the kitchen to a fresh folder and loaded up the .erv just to be sure of this before i posted it)

For all those who were trying to build a 21870 rom and going with that standard template this was the cause of the following errors...

1. Text not sending
2. Bing throwing error about needing .net
3. Mobile Calc not launching (signature error)
4. Touch In Call Screen Tweak error (if installed) (signature error)
5. reStart not launching (if installed) (signature error)
6. phm notepad not launching (if installed) (signature error)

I'm sure more apps as well that I may have not installed but were getting this type error. I confirmed this was the problem after a flash by running a netCF 3.7 cab i had and it fixed everything. Then I noticed that NetCF was not selected in the kitchen (kitchen version is 3.5 which fixes everthing as well) so i ran another build with it selected and no more problems :)

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.80 (Windows Mobile; WCE; Opera Mobi/WMD-50255; U; en) Presto/2.4.13 Version/10.00)

I had stated in the rom thread tha I am able to get opera10 to use the internet tab. I now see that the favorites come from IE. The shortcuts will still launch O10, but operas favs don't show on the internet tab.

If you use this cab, it will automatically install the newest version of MyPhone, saving you all the hassle of updating. It can also be uninstalled whenever there is a new version available down the road.

OMJ,

Not sure if this is fixable or not but gonna see if you have an idea. After a soft reset, or anytime a data connection is not active, the weather won't initiate a data connection on it's own if you tell it to update :(

I have tried checking and unchecking the setting to download automatically thinking that maybe if it was checked it would allow the weather tab to initiate it's own data connection but no go :(

As it stands now, i have download automatically unchecked and just update it manually when i feel the need, but have to go initiate a data connection in the comm mgr if one is not active already (that's the part that sucks)

Is yours behaving this way? Or is there a reg somewhere to allow sense to initiate the connection on it's own as it has with previous versions?

Thanks

So far though, that is the ONLY thing I've found  This kitchen is totally AWESOME Buddy!

Edit: Ok, i found that if i disable "my location" (which is bugy and works intermittently) and just load my city manually it will auto initiate a data connection to download the weather. (I think maybe you said way back in the other thread that this is how you run your phone)

Ok, I'm back with the same problem I had before with the kitchen. I downloaded the file anew, unzipped it to the desktop and proceeded to run it from the desktop. Once the gui came up for the kitchen all I did was click on device/diamond followed by load rom. I typed an "o" in the dialog box which then presented me with the 3 preloaded saved roms. I selected 23504 and then clicked on create rom. After several minutes of what appeared like error free processing, the bottom of the log file looks like...

I know when I was building 2.5, it was typically the message client for SMS not working, but never figured out the MyLocation.

i think that theres is an issue with the connection. notice that when ever u are already connected it actually works but if u push update when you not "online" then it wont work because it doesn't even try to connect.

personally im using a modified version of nrg. i changed all the manila files to the new ones, added all the tweaks and mods, it took some time to do but everything works great.

Both should work if setup correctly using the right dependencies..

Mylocation requires:

GoogleLocationService_1_0_1_21
HTCGeoService 1_0_19192827_00

Realized now that you actually do have 1920 shared modules, but try the resources.

What dialer are you using in the roms ?
I used the rhodium and there is a lag on the ringer.
I saw a Qilin over in the XDA thread, have you tried that?

The kitchen has a some of Calkulin's kitchen, some of Indagroove's kitchen, and all of OMJ's orchestration. Was there something in particular that you were wondering about? Of course, you could make it your own, by adding anything that you like.

I added some of calks, and a few oems I had laying around, and now I have a rock-solid rom built to my taste. It's just that easy. Thanks OMJ!!

Anybody,

Which modules do i need to remove if I want WinMo to handle all the messaging needs, but of course still want the tab and the ability to read a single text in that tab? In other words, get the text in the manilla tab as usual, but launch WinMo when pressed rather than the HTC client? Or is this possible?

There are multiple packages referencing messenging and don't know which one exactly can be removed??
