All you need to do, is extract the files ... and place them in their proper place in OMJ's kitchen. There are three files ... a "Sys" file, and two files in the rom folder, one that goes in the Diamond folder and another that goes into the Shared folder. You'll recognize how it goes. Once done ... fire up the kitchen and cook away. Hope that helps ...

Sorry for the newbish question in the midst of such an exciting thread, but on your different templates, can I pick WM 6 vs. 6.5, or do I have to use the one picked by default by that template?

Thanks!

When you cook up a rom, the EXT build, XIP build, and the SYS build must all match. Wha tKen was doing with the .erv file (template), was showing you all the necessary stuff for a proper build, but still allowing your personal preferences when it came to applications, etc. So the short answer is that if you want a 6.1 rom, then you need to change all three parameters, which will in turn require adjustments in other areas. When Ken started this thread, he did provide a 6.1 (sys 21055) .erv, but he's chosen not to support it, in favor of all the newer systems. Hope this helps ...

So is there any way to use WM6 and not 6.5 on this kitchen? If I have to use 6.5, I would definitely need whatever version has the normal button layout - as in "no giant ugly start menu button at the bottom of the screen" normal. Also, if I am forced into 6.5, is there a version with a normal WM6 classic style start menu, and if not, can that be tweaked in later?

Thanks!

In the original kitchen, the files existed to put together a WM6.1 build, but I think some of those files were gradually replaced in favor of 6.5 and 6.5x files. Not sure if Ken or someone else might still have those files available. If not, then it sounds like a 6.5 build would fit you best, since it would still have the start icon on the top, and the HTC task manager on the top right. As for a 6.1 start menu, I think that might be possible, but you'll need to search for that ...

So that is what the difference betweeen "6.5 and 6.5x" is then?

6.5x is a more finger friendly interface ... it's the one with the start menu on the bottom of the screen. 6.5 is the more traditional look with the start menu on the top left ... it also tends to be a little less experimental. Although, the recent builds, especially the roms put together by OMJ, tend to be pretty stable. I know that he personally uses a 6.5x build.

I need to rebuild my ROM as the camera files seem to be corrupt on the 21901 files I used.
I have a complete set of files, but there is way too much there and I haven't been able to figure out where everything goes and what should be left out.

sorry man, I dont have 21903 that's kitchen ready...if you'd like I can groom it for ya

Man, I was loving the rom I made. and everything worked in it for months, until the last few days...

everything was really sluggish (after days of not resetting the phone). so i reset the phone. when it booted back up i got a message "cant send text message". Now It randomly takes an hour to get a text message. and other times it works fine. Also the alarm randomly will only go off for a half a second. which is most likely to happen when i really need to be somewhere.

Is this normal to happen after a few months of using a self cooked rom? I feel like something is slowly building up somewhere and making the phone have all kinds of problems, like some text log.

it's been awhile that I've been on 1 ROM for a few months....if I were you, I would save yourself some time & just hard reset or reflash.

I've got all the "stuff"... you want the files? If you don't already have them... here is a link to what I downloaded.
Or if you have 21901, I'd be OK w/that. That's what I'm using now, I just figured I'd get the most recent if I'm going to flash again.
I'd really appreciate anything you can do.

I already have 21903, I just never made it kitchen ready...it's kind of a pain, and no one was askin for a 6.5 rom...
