Well, I'd suggest you start by asking "do I like the start button at the top (21887, WM 6.5, same apps) or the start button at the bottom (28014, WM 6.5.3, same apps) and do I like the full Sense 2.5 (more eye candy, more beta, more memory intensive) or the more basic Sense 2.1 (less eye candy, less beta, less memory intensive) experience?" Based on those 2 choices that will narrow it down to one choice for you.

Wow very impressed with the ROM OMJ, thanks a bunch, I was close to picking up another phone because I was getting pretty down on my diamond but this had given it new life, thanks.

FYI .
Problem with exchange on Sense 2.5 | 6.5.3 | 28014 | v1.5... it doesn't seem to remember the domain name for some reason and wont sync.

yeah, that one is pre-new-dialer....

I AM HAPPY TO SAY THAT THIS NEW DIALER (from the LEO) WILL DISPLAY FACEBOOKS PIX!!! thx Mwalt2 & Omnicronix!

Also, I am discontinuing UC (user customization) and switching to SASHIMI. If you are not familiar w/ SASHIMI it is pretty nice. I used it for the 1st time today, runs on 2nd bootup.

Grab the attached file, unzip to internal storage

copy your cabs to \Internal Storage\SASHIMI\Auto\CAB\SC\

copy your XML's to \Internal Storage\SASHIMI\Auto\XML

etc...

I'll be uploading the new v1.5 soon

Sick...hey just to be clear...I didn't try the unlocker fix as the new rom is already out. But was the manila locker causing the sub menu wallpaper bug? That's the way I understood one of your last posts. Or was that fix just for the freezing issue? (I never had a problem with freezing, I have my phone set to lock whenever I turn the screen off and it has never frozen)

according to Amarullz, Manila locker was causing the wallpaper bug that you reported. I posted over @ xda w/ the pix u posted & he said it was the locker.

I have had an occasional freeze, seems to happen when it's on the charger overnight....but it rarely happens. I also have mine set to lock on suspend.

Amazing...one little thing I noticed is that when you add an event into the manila calendar, even though the clock for when you set the start and end time no longer blurs, the "set" and "cancel" buttons are barely visible, they're hidden behind the windows task bar. I'm going to update to 1.5 tonight or tomorrow, don't know if you've noticed or fixed that already.

yeah, there's something that needs to be ported, as this was for WVGA.

the ROM is SASHIMI compliant, but to use SASHI, you need that zip extracted to Internal storage w/ your cabs/xmls etc

"copy your XML's to \Internal Storage\SASHIMI\Auto\XML"

Here is a real noob question, but where are my .xml files stored on the diamond?

Also, does sashimi load to main memory or to the storage card or can I control where it loads?
Thanks!!!

Just copy the .xml's from a previous VGA ported version and it should work fine if you want to keep whatever version you are using. I've been using the version ported to VGA by programatix (link below). It works well and displays correctly. I believe it's the newest non-"Test" version that I have seen.

If anyone wants to fix it in their ROM without waiting for an update, just download the EXT package at the following link and copy the .xml's to /windows. It will probably display correctly then for VGA (if not, just delete the .xml's from /windows if it messes anything up and you'll be back to the ROM copy).

these would be XML's that you have made.....ie....I have one that creates all my pop3/imap/exchange accounts, creates my wifi connection.

when SASHIMI runs, and loads your cab's it will ask whether u want to install to memory or storage.

Hey guys just wanted to check back in after the purchase of my TP2. I must say though I was hesitant at first, I am really loving the new phone, been using it for about 4 days now. I loved my diamond and OMJ made it that much better, but if anyone is waivering on getting a tp2 or not I would def jump on it. I've been using Mighty's rom with it and it is amazing.

Coming from a TP1 it's not that much of an upgrade. I mean bigger screen and everything, but coming from a diamond it's huge. Everything is lighting fast and the screen is beautiful. The one main thing that I really notice is the touch screen is much more responsive. I would have to try and click on links in opera like 2 or 3 times before it would actually register, now it's so accurate and hassle free.

OMJ, you are one of my favorite cooks, when are you coming to the TP2? Come on, I'll even start an account where everyone can chip in a little and we'll buy one for you to tool with! Who's in? Probably the wrong thread, lol.

Hey, I still love my diamond. I must say though the only thing I miss from the diamond to the tp2 is the Dpad. That it.

I'm holding a TP2 in my hands now :D, actually it's my wife's....I was very tempted to get one too, but I decided to hold off for a non-KB....rumor is something may be coming soon (hopefully)...I will agree though, it is alot faster & more responsive even on the stock rom. Even though is has the same cpu as the Diamond, it must be the extra ram & just better design.

I've been meaning to unlock & flash a custom to my wife's TP2, was thinking about Mightys, which one are you using? I'd cook one myself but I can't play too much w/ it.

Re: Microsoft Push email

On the 28014 builds I have noticed a difference in the way Microsoft push email works.
1) On setup I am no longer asked to accept the certificate from my Exchange server
2) In order to do the first sync I actually have to load active sync..previously it syncd automatically after I set up Poutlook
4) There is no togle for Microsoft push email on the settings it seems to be replaced by the Active Sync item on the Data Service Settings
5) What is peak and off-peak..I can't get the off-peak setting to change from every 60 minutes to on receipt. I can change it but it doesn't stick after I click Done.

I love this ROM so I hope this problem (for me) is just temporary..or perhaps I am missing something.

i like the last two downloads. but i have 2 issues at precent with the latest:
-random rebooting. though it was related to using opera but from time to time the phone just reboots on its own(me not touching it) or while im using it.

Install Max Manila 2.5 - v2.7 Main (beta).cab from here and you can have some icons that will display missed calls on the home screen. It changes the way some things look, but almost all of it is configurable by sliding down on the home screen. Make sure you slide down and change the resolution to VGA if you decide to install it. Read post #2 in the linked thread for what the different settings do.

1. i noticed that too...just one less step...
2. no toggle? default should be "as items arrive" which is push
3. I always chang off-peak to manually, default is "as items arrive", changed fine for me.

in the world of custom roms (especially when using programs that were not intended for the Diamond!!), sometimes you have to live w/ minor inconveniences.....that's just the way it goes....

if u hit the top bar pretty much anywhere, the enhanced notification should show.

you could always use Sense 2.1 which has the call history

hopefully there will be a mod created that will be easier to use....I know they made one for WVGA, but havent seen one for VGA.

I noticed you haven't updated the 2.1 builds in a few weeks. Just thought you should know before you do

one of these days I may get around to updating the 2.1 roms, I think everyone knows I pretty much stick to 2.5.

omj: I dunno why but hitting the top bar just seems really unreliable in general to me :/ maybe my calibration isn't perfect, I'll fiddle with it. thanks. If I use 2.1 I miss all the 2.5 hotness =)

edit: it occurred to me you could fit calendar and call history on the Today screen in VGA if you just ditch the useless bar above the clock which only contains the name of the carrier, and a 'lock' icon...maybe I should suggest that to Max Manila though, seems more like a project for them than for you :)

Read post #2 in the linked thread for what the different settings do.

So, in the end I tried this out, and got it how I want it - thanks. Only now of course Manila Locker doesn't work! Grah, perfection is so hard to reach :)

One bug I noticed with version 1.5 of the 28014 rom is that when scrolling through facebook pics through manila contacts the phone freezes after you scroll through about 10

Hey OMJ and JQuill, it think if you do a search for TouchX - speed up screen scrolling - thier is a cab that seems to work on my diamond (i had the same issue with the contacts scrolling and pausing for a few secs.

Actually: I was able to find the link, lots of tweaks here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584415

BTW OMJ, I have no idea what you did with 1.4 but I am having the most battery life my diamond is ever had - I am into about 1.5-2 days and my battery is still at 51% - so at this point I am a bit scared to upgrade until I notice an issue that I can't live with or something comes into the ROM that I really want to have.

I've searched but can't find a answer...are we able to use a panoramics wallpaper on 2.5? I found itr for 2.1 so I'm assuming it's not available.

Re: Microsoft Push email

[QUOTE=OMJ;1495861]1. i noticed that too...just one less step...
2. no toggle? default should be "as items arrive" which is push
3. I always chang off-peak to manually, default is "as items arrive", changed fine for me.

Thank you.
The off peak defaulted to every 60 minutes and I want it to push all the time. But I finally figured it out, you have to do a sync after changing the settings or it won't take so now I'm OK
I'm still curious about how it eliminates the need to accept the certificate and Outlook Anywhere is usually pretty picky about that..one step less is fine with me.
